Bordi Beach is located about 15 km from a small town of Dahanu, in the Thane district of Maharashtra. This beach stretches for about 17 km, located just 145 km from Mumbai. The clean beach is characterised by the black coloured sticky sand. The presence of the Chikoo orchards in the background renders a sense of tranquillity to the beach. Moreover, the water level never rises above waist line till half a kilometre into the sea.
Bordi Beach, also known as the Dahanu Bordi Beach, is a popular choice of tourists for picnics, gatherings, beach walking tours and horse riding. This beach also holds religious significance for the Zoroastrians. The Mecca of Zoroastrians houses the sacred fire, which has been kept alive for more than a century. The community of Bordi mainly comprises Parsis, who offer Parsi cuisine and bungalows to tourists.
Tourists can shop for homemade chips, pickles, chikki and powder made of dried Chikoo. Khajoor chocolates, dry fruits and gooseberry candies are other special items that are popular buys. Gujarati thalis and Parsi delicacies can be enjoyed, along with seafood served in different restaurants.
The best season to visit Bordi Beach is from November through February. During this time of the year, the weather is pleasant, with nights being cool and the temperature reaching up to 12° Celsius.

Bordi town is one of the places which are still untouched and unexplored. This beach town offers numerous options in terms of sightseeing as it has beautiful places like the Dahanu-Bordi Beach. Characteristic of a peaceful ambience, this beach is extremely popular for relaxing out in the sun, tracing the chikoo orchards, or lazing under the casuarinas.
Bahrot Caves, located 8 km away from Bordi, also makes a popular attraction of the town. Situated amidst the Bahrot Hills that rise to a height of 1500 ft, this site is considered religious by the Parsis residing in the town. Another religious site in the vicinity of Bordi is the Mallinath Jain Tirth Kosbad Temple, which is considered sacred among the Jains. Dedicated to Rishabha, this temple is located in the Prabhadevi hills.
Travellers can also choose to make a visit to the Kalpataru Botanical Garden, which is located 10 km away from the town, in Umbergaon. The Depchari Dam and Reservoir and the Asavli Dam offer a serene environment, and serve an excellent picnic spot for travellers. While the Asavli Dam is famous for its architecture style, the Depchari Dam and Reservoir is visited for its peaceful ambience and rich green cover.
Other places of interest around Bordi are the Vrindavan Studios and the Dahanu Fort. The Vrindavan Studios are situated in the town of Umbergaon, 10 km away from Bordi. It is famous for being the shooting spot of renowned mythological serials like Mahabharat and Ramayana. Dahanu Fort is famous for its rich heritage and was once used as a jail. Site of this jail is 24 km away from Bordi, in the village of Dahanu.
