Chiplun is a city situated in Maharashtra and is famous for jackfruit chips, Alphonso mangoes, dry kokum and kokum sherbet. The main attractions in Chiplun include Gowalkot Fort, Walavalkar Shivaji Museum, Donavali, Parshuram Temple, Sawatsada Waterfall, Koyna Dam, Nehru Smriti Udyan and Marleshwar Temple. The Gowalkot Fort was built by Habshi of Janjira and was later renovated by Chhatrapati Shivaji in 1670.
The Walavalkar Shivaji Museum was built by Sitarambuva Walavalkar, who also looked after its maintenance. This museum comprises of statues and pictures depicting the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Donavali, Vashishti River and a 17th century Siddhivinayak Temple can be easily visited from Chiplun. Parshuram Temple and Sawatsada Waterfall are other important attractions of this region that remain crowded throughout the year.
Koyna Dam is one of the largest dams in the region that was constructed in 1963. This dam is the main water source, located in the Western Ghats between Karad and Chiplun. Shivasagar Lake, Marleshwar Temple, Dhareshwar Waterfall and Nehru Smriti Udyan are the nearby attractions of Koyna Dam.
