Chopta village is located in the Rudraprayag District of Uttarakhand and is popular for its grasslands called Bugyals. Situated at a height of 2,680 m above the sea level, tourists can see snow covered peaks of the Himalayas such as Trishul, Chaukhamba and Nanda Devi.
Tungnath Mandir which is dedicated to Lord Shiva is a popular attraction of Chopta. The Panch Kedar is a revered region comprising five Hindu Temples which are dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temples of Tungnath, Kedarnath, Madhyamaheshwar, Rudranath and Kalpeshwar form the Panch Kedar. Ukimath is a holy place deidicated to Lord Shiva, which is known as the winter seat of Kedarnath.
Chandrashila is situated at a height of around 4,000 m and is famous for trekking. The Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary is renowned among tourists for housing the Himalayan wildlife. The dense forests in the Chopta village include diverse variety of flora; famous among them are deodar and rhododendron trees.
