"Coorg trip"

Coorg Experience: Coorg is a nice place to spend weekend. If you want to have a very peaceful stay, go during weekday. Climate during day is as hot as in Bangalore. But evenings are pleasant. Less commercial - Not like Ooty, Kodai
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food - not too many good hotels. All are in and around the bus stand. East end and Sahara - are average. Coorg International - ok. Athithi - we went in and just left after seeing the place - very unclean and unhygienic. Mahindra - excellect. But costly - Rs.450 per person for buffet. Sightseeing - Raja seat - excellent view of valley from here. Abbey falls - another good sightseeing place in the midst of dense forests. Shopping - Very few shops and these are crowded during weekends. the market is almost empty on weekdays. Spices and honey can be bought. Fruits are good.
Activities & things to do: Bikes and cycles are available for rent. I saw couple of boards for trekking. I did not take them
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: I went by car. Excellent road except for the strip between Srirangapatna to Yelakaval. I took a slightly longer route through the Ring road of Mysore while returning and that is good. The last strip from Kushal nagar to Madikeri is bit narrow. Good hotels in the Mysore highway. After Mysore not too many. There is Coorg Coffeday at Hunsur which is quite ok.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Suggested to travel from Mysore or Bangalore. Road from Mangalore is too bad.

"Coorg is beautiful"

Coorg Experience: Its a nice place to be visit, overall value for time, money & energy. There are lots of places to visit in & around coorg like, nisarga forest, river, Sri Shani Temple, Golden Temple, river rafting, coffee estate, water dam, etc.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: There is nothing to shop but when you visit to Golden temple you must visit to those Nepal shops, they are damn cheap & good as compare to Bangalore. They are mainly well known for the girls & boys accessories like ear rings, finger rings, chains, etc.
Activities & things to do: Roam around , enjoy the nature, site seeing, enjoy good food, lazing arround.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: It is about 280km from Bangalore & about 140km from Mysore. Nearest airport is Mysore. You can take a cab or some other vehicle as per the size of your team. Roads are not bad.

"Coorg - heaven on earth"

Coorg Experience: Tala Cauvery is a must see place and also Cauvery Nisargadhama... pleasant enough for total relaxation.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is good at East End hotel, Madikeri... but only thing is there is no system followed at the hotel... it should be either first come first serve or token system... Sights are also awesome... Shopping nothing to shop, except for coffee.
Activities & things to do: Nothing much - just visit places, relax and get back home
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Take your own transport.

"Trip to coffee country - Coorg"

Coorg Experience: Situated in Dakshin Kannada, bordering Kerala. Medium Height from sea level. Away from major cities so that environment is not spoiled much unlike Ooty, Shimla. Full of Coffee, pepper plantations.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Madikere-Non-Veg:Choice restaurant. Veg:Woodlands is fine. Both are near bus-stand. Bathing is not allowed in Abbey falls and allowed in Iruppu falls. Plan accordingly. Near the bridge of the private bus-stand of Madikere, you can buy pepper, coffee, cardamom and honey at the authorised shop there.
Activities & things to do: Trekking is allowed in Wayanad Forest.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Two forest areas are near Kutta. One is Nagarhole(10km) and another is Wayanad of Kerala(6km). Allowing safari in morning and evening in Wayanad and only evening in Nagarhole. Mini-bus travel in Nagarhole(Rs.95/per person and may not run after moderate rain) and hire a jeep in Wayanad(Rs.300/). Best season for safari-November and December (after monsoon with greenery and before summer). No good restaurant in Kutta. Be prepared and plan.

"Coorg and Namdroling"

Coorg Experience: Coorg (knows as Kodagu district, Karnataka) is an amazing place. From the places we visited Talacauvery can be rated the best. Known more because it is the birth-place of river Cauvery, we also liked the wonderful views from the view-point located a couple of hundred steps above the temple. The Namdroling monastery at Bylakuppe (Kushalanagar) was another place we liked. The amazing colours used and the natural lighting inside the temple was particularly amazing.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Coorg is known for its non-veg food specially pork. Our home-stay hosts served us sumptuous mutton and chicken, I avoided pork. Some of the routes are just amazing, like the one that connects Madikeri to Siddapur, and the one between Ammathi and Titimati - coffee estates on one side and the hill on the other with occasional waterfalls! Shop for honey, coffee, spices at Madikeri. Shop for decorative items at the Namdroling monastery.
Activities & things to do: Not much to do other than driving around.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Avoid travelling after sun-set. Most home-stays are located in the estates, which can be difficult to locate in the dark. While going from Bangalore you could cover Bylakuppe and Nisargadhama on your way (start early) and reach Madikeri (or Ammathi, where we stayed) before sunset. Novice drivers should avoid driving to Abbey falls.

"Coorg - Great vacation with a little discomfort"

Coorg Experience: The whole district of Coorg is full of coffee plants and greenery everywhere. The weather is so beautiful that in the morning it drizzles, afternoon sun and evening gets cloudy. The places we visited were Harangi Dam, Tala Cauveri, Madikeri Fort , Raja Seat, Irupu Falls,Dubare Elephant Camp and Golden Temple. The places are good except Madikeri. Madikeri is the capital of Coorg. It is a hill station. We found it is not worth travelling all the way up there just to see a Raja Seat which is nothing but a garden on a Hill. Madikeri Fort is horrible. Right now everything there is Government offices.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We stayed at Raksh Cottage, Siddapur. The hospitality was wonderful. I would suggest anyone to stayhere at this place. Their website is www.coorgholidayhome.com. The best thing is you get highly delicious home made food. Raksh cottage provided us breakfast and dinner which is like home stay. Shopping is ok. Be aware that it gets dark early and there are no street lights. Be prepared to do your shopping in day time.
Activities & things to do: If you are visiting Talacauveri, I would recommed to stay at Talacauveri the whole day. Take food with you. It is a nice place with drizzles on and off like you watch in movies.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Be aware that the water falls you visit are having leeches which you won't even know they are biting. I had a terrible experience. We went to Irupu falls. My mother in law had blood in her legs even though she did not touch the water. We found out those leeches bit her. I went into the water. After the travel I went home and took out my shoe just to my surprise my sock was full of blood. I did not even know that something bit me. Everybody there said its ok nothing to worry. The bleeding stopped after some time. Another important tip I want to give a heads up is the roads are very bad and not easily accessible. I had to vomit two times because of these narrow and up hill roads.

"Excellent Coorg"

Coorg Experience: Coorg is beautiful. Mountains with lush green are a must watch.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Rajah seat in Madikeri - from there you get a fantastic view. Madikeri honey is very famous.
Activities & things to do: Talacauvery is a must watch - the birthplace of the river Cauvery.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: There is no train to Kodagu. Bus services are available.

"Cool Trip"

Coorg Experience: Very Cool place - it is nice to see and enjoy.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Talkavery is a very nice and cool place. Limited places for sight seeing. Non-vegetarians can get a variety of food. But vegetarians definitely suffer don't.
Activities & things to do: Shopping on the way to Talkaveri is good - you can get some Ayurveda products.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Book a lodge or home stay first, otherwise you could have a very bad experience.

"Coorg - Somewhat over rated"

Coorg Experience: Going by the tourist information available, Coorg seemed like a must visit. So, on a recent business trip to Bangalore we decided to go ahead on to Coorg. We should have done a bit of research in advance. Madikeri and the much touted route there via Kushalnagar was most disappointing. However, the lush green Madikeri Siddapur Polibetta route was more to our liking.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Families with children or those who are interested may like the Tibetan settlements at Kushalnagar and Bylakuppe. We did not find them of interest. Likewise the elephant training camp at Dubare and the organised tourist complex at Nisarghadharma. All these are on the Hunsur Piriyapatana Kushalnagar Madikeri route. Those who want just lush green unorganised nature should instead go to Coorg via Gonnikoppal Polibetta and Siddapur, the forest and plantation areas.
Activities & things to do: If you like nature and greenery, a plantation stay in a coffee and spice estate will be a good experience. One can walk along plantation roads and light forest. We walked in the Siddapur Polibetta area and were delighted to see wildflowers, butterflies and Giant Malabar squirrels. The previous day we saw a poor chained elephant on his way to entertain visitors to the Dubare camp! We could not get a decent cup of good Coorg coffee in Coorg but made up for it in Mysore instead. For non vegetarians, Coorgi local specialities are recommended.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Best to go by your own vehicle or private car. Do some research in advance so that you can take the routes which are of interest to you. If we knew in advance we would have avoided the Kushalnagar route and gone from Gonnikoppal.

Tibetan Golden Temple - good place to visit 4. Haarangi Dam - No water and not a good place 5. Nisarga Dhaama - Not a good place to visit 6. Dobare Forest - Not visited due to time constraint but I think a nice place to visit. Day 2: 1. Naapoklu Palace - good place to visit 2. Triveni Sangama - good place to visit 3. Nagara hole - Not visited because of time constraint but a good place to visit I believe. We stayed in Vanasiri Homestay near Naapoklu and its a nice place to stay. The owner is very friendly and he is getting married this month sometime.

"Beautiful Nature"

Coorg Experience: Most memorable holiday. we went there as a weekend getaway and were not so much fussed on seeing everything but just experiencing the beauty. So we did not manage to see all that Coorg have to offer, but what we experienced did refresh us and added a new life. The cool air, the friendly atmosphere a double thumbs up.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Shopping would be for honey and spices, Honey jam with lots of dry fruits is delicious.
Activities & things to do: Pleasant walks are refreshing.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: We took the last bus from Bangalore and still reached early in the morning at about 5, since the rooms will be from 12 to 12 you need to specify that to the hotel. Could be a low budget vacation if you could plan well...

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is very homely...the atmosphere very hospitable.
Activities & things to do: IRUPPU FALLS ARE VERY NEAR TO RAMCAD ESTATE WALKABLE DISTANCE ONLY STAY AND FOOD NO INDOOR GAMES OR SWIMMING POOL NICE MORNING WALK IN THE COFFEE PLANTATIONS AND EVENING WALK UPTO FALLS AND TAKING BATH IN THE FALLS BUT VERY CHILL WAER DURING WINTER

"Abbey Falls"

Coorg Experience: You might want to avoid this destination anytime other than during the rainy months. The 'falls' are a little more than a trickle of water dripping down about 50 feet of rock. No roar of nature's might like you see at Shivasamudram. The quality of the English used on the sign boards at the falls is nothing less than DISGRACEFUL.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Nothing much, unless you want to pick up some Coorg honey
Activities & things to do: Get an estate owner to take you around a large estate.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The road from Kushalnager to Madikeri is not good.

"Wonderful place to visit"

Coorg Experience: Hi, I visited Coorg in very recent times, actually last week. And it is a wonderful place to be at. Silent woods, singing birds and free flowing rivers! If you are looking for a break from town/city life and pollutions, ultimate place to visit!
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Wonderful food. Try local receipes and you will find it really worth to spend for. Sight-seeing is good is you indulge yourself in woods and vallies.
Activities & things to do: Treak through dense coffee estates and spice estates is a nice experiance. Lot of natural parks and sancturies around. Raft if you want, good river beds to raft. Roam around. It is worth it.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Mind the cold.
