From Delhi to Corbett and Rudraprayag
| | Hi, I'm new here and already fond of this forum, I'm glad that I've found it! By the way, I'm a forester from Cape Town, South Africa. What I need is advise, plenty of it 'cause I have never been to India before. So I very much hope to find assistance here.
I grew up with Jim Corbett's books. As a child I received the book 'Maneaters' as a gift, after reading the first pages in bed, it was extremely difficult to fall asleep, several time I looked under the bed, fearing their might be a tiger! So, now I have to follow Jim's footsteps before it's too late, time is flying, one doesn't get any younger...
I'm planning the following:
Fly from Cape Town to Delhi.
Should I go first to Corbett National Park or first to Rudraprayag?
How do I go to those destinations as quickly and comfortable as possible?
I would like to spend at least one week at Corbett. Should I stay the entire period in one camp or in several ones? Which ones?
What are the nicest camps? Quietness and beauty of the surroundings are very important. And there should be a restaurant available.
What would be a good time for the visit? What about March to end of May? It should be sunny and warm.
What other places should I visit whilst at Corbett?
Inside Corbett, can I drive with my own car - as I do it in South Africa's Kruger National Park?
Can I rent a car close to Corbett?
After Corbett, how do I get to Rudraprayag?
Are there any nice accommodation places at Rudraprayag? Beautiful scenery, clean rooms, nice food etc.
Could I find a local guide who could show me all places mentioned in Jim Corbett's book about the maneating leopard, i e the mango tree, that bridge Jim had closed in order to prevent the leopard from crossing and many more places. Or could I do it on my own?
I really have to apologize for the countless questions but I'm so excited for having fallen into this forum! In South Africa I'm working as a tourist guide, so if you people would ever want to come to beautiful South Africa I would assist you with pleasure.
