"Feedback"

Courtallam Experience: Situated close to the courtallam falls, this is a good destination during monsoons. A bath in the falls is really invigorating and freshens you up. There are plenty of restaurants during the busy season and so food is not a problem.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Though there are many restaurants in Courtallam, only South Indian type food is available which is a bit of a let down for those from the North. Wish one could have restaurants that serve north-indian food as well
Activities & things to do: Not much to do, except go to the falls.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Easier to reach via Madurai by flight or from Trivandrum. Takes about 4 hours from Madurai airport.

"Spa of South"

Courtallam Experience: Courtallam also known as spa of south is in Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu. Its a cultural and refreshing spot. Waterfalls and temples makes it more unique with a very refreshing weather.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food: Best place for non-veg and a good place for vegetarians i would say. Have a refreshing long bath and reach a place called piranoor/border which is 2-3 kms from here. You get authentic porota and chicken. These hotels they make the masala from their home it seems. the taste is unique and havent had such a tasty and spicy porota and kuruma(they call salna) in my life time. Sight-Seeing: Water Falls: There are 4-5 falls we saw actually. They are five falls, old courtrallam falls, chtraruvi, chembagadevi(trekking experience) falls and couple more. The water here meant to have herbal powers which can cure skin diseases and gives you a refreshing mind. I am sure it was refreshing. The water tastes real good. dont hesitate to drink it. The courtralla-nathar temple is a famous Shiva temple right opposite to the main falls. There are temples near by courtrallam like tenkasi kasi viswanathar temple, elanji kumarar temple etc. Nice peaceful clean-air place. Shopping : Not a great shopping place but you can buy a lots of fruits which we cant find in bangalore. Statues were there too, but be little careful.
Activities & things to do: Definitely have to taste that halwa: 3 kms from courtrallam, this place called Tenkasi has a kasi viswanathar temple. right opposite to that there is a 100 year old halwa shop. go there and they serve hot halwa in a piece of banana leaf. Amazing and melting. you wont stop eating one. :P Rava Dosa: Near by the halwa shop, we found a hotel named Anandha Bhavan, have rava dosa there. Brilliant taste. Kanupulimettu Dam: this dam would be around 10 kms from courtrallam i believe. Small dam but the place is amazing. You have boating there too. For muslim Friends: There is a place called Vallam, around 3 kms from Courtrallam, it has a very old mosque deep down inside the forest, called Kattu palli vassal. One of the amazing mosques i have seen, very simple but super peaceful place to be in. Must visit for muslim friends.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: There are trains and buses to Tenkasi and Shecottah. You can choose Tenkasi and that would be a better place to land. From there book a car or SUV according to your needs. Its not very cold, the chillness is moderate and damn it always drizzling there in peak climate time. Before you plan, ask someone to find out the climate and go there. Its wonderful if you get a chance to go there during off-season no crowd and very clean. Lots of monkeys which usually dont hurt unless you make them to ;)

"Great place for a natural healing at the falls"

Courtallam Experience: Courtallam is a great place to visit and enjoy especially if we visit at the right time with less crowd and a beautiful weather. (October;2010). The bath at small falls (3 to 5 falls ) was really great. One has to visit the location to really get the feeling of the bath, water flowing from a higher altitudes and with the force was simply superb.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Since we stayed at a resort (Saaral resort) , the food provided at the resort restaurant was good. Also Tenkasi being nearby, there are plenty of small restaurants offering good breakfast and lunch, which are value for money.
Activities & things to do: Enjoy the bath at the falls. View the falls from a distance is also great. There are lots of small shops. Some are really good and creative work of art could be spotted.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Courtrallam could be reached from Chennai through Sengottai express going to Sengottai and alighting at Tenkasi which is just 10 minutes drive from Courtrallam. It reaches Tenkasi at aorund 7.30 am. Other options are trains reaching Tirunelveli. But the distance is around 40- 50 kms from Courtrallam.

During the season (period June to September in every year) thousands of tourists from far and near visit this place. Tourists who visit and bathe in the waters claim that the water has a smoothing effect, help the old feel young and the sick heal rapidly. This place has a chill and a superb climate with sizzling of rain drops over us removes the stresses in our mind. The pure wind that starts from pothigai malai (mountain) removes the tiredness from our body. 'The Fruit Garden falls' is the pampered kid of Courtallam. It is dedicated to Lord Thirukutralanathar (Siva). It is said that Lord Siva send saint Agastheyar to the south to avoid imbalance due to overcrowding in the mount Kailas on his celestial wedding. Another notable feature of Courttalam is Chithra Sabha (in which a number of mural paintings of rural deities and stories from epics are depicted in the central hall. This sabha is one of the five Sabas where Lord Nataraja performed the Cosmic-dance. Moreover this temple contains many inscriptions about Chola and Pandya Kings. Chitra Sabha is made out of medicinal herbs. The wooden carved planks serve as doors. Numerous rivers such as the Chittar River, the Manimuthar River, the Pachaiyar River and the Tambaraparani River originate here.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Water Falls list in coutrallam 1. Peraruvi (Main Falls) The most popular and frequented waterfalls are the Main falls. Not only during the season, but also during the period November to January, the crest receives the Northeastern monsoon emptying itself on the slopes to swell the falls and the Chittar River. It is so called because of beehives on the promontory. It is a romantic place of solitude and those who seek seclusion come here to meditate on reality. 5. Aintharuvi (Five Falls) Connected by a good road about 3 miles from the Main falls are the Five falls, so named as the cascade spreads in five heads like a hooded cobra. This spot is venerated highly as it presents an image of Adishesha with several hoods. 6. Pazhathotta Aruvi 7.
