Dhanaulti Reviews

"Close to nature" new review

Dhanaulti Experience: Still unexplored and beautiful place in the lap of Himalayas. Healthy and fresh air which purifies your body and soul. It would be best if places like these do not become commercialized and remain the way they are. The place does not have many doctors and locals say they don't need any as people there seldom have any health related issues. Wonderful view of snow covered Himalayan range with aerial distance of not more than 50 km . Simply Superb!!!
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Nature is the best hing to see, however eco park is a nice place to visit and Tehri Dam which is 40 km from Dhanaulti. Not much to expect for shopping as the market consists of not more than 20 odd shops. You can get some rhododendron juice which grows naturally and considered good for gastric problems.
Activities & things to do: I did not go there looking for any activity though people do get there for trekking.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: BY train to Dehradun and a taxi from there would take around 2 hours to reach Dhanaulti. Bit risky to drive by yourself.

"Visit for peace and silence"

Dhanaulti Experience: Dhanulti about 30 KM from Mussorie is a very peaceful location away from the hustle bustle of Mussorie. Here you can enjoy the nature, birds, go for a trek or two and feel the silence. View of the snow clad mountain ranges is good provided you get a nice room higher up.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: You might have to depend on your resort for dinner as its quiet cold and dark at night. For lunch you have the road side dhabas near Eco park. We had a sumptuous lunch at Hill View restaurant on one of the days. The dal was out of world.
Activities & things to do: There are not much to do or see except sit and relax. One can do the Surkand Devi temple (about 2km from Eco park on Chamba road) trek about 2 km uphill, Visit Aloo Khet (a flat valley with no signs of Aloo cultivation) whcih is a 1 km trek amid deodhar trees. The vievw from here is great. Then you can visit Eco park and enjoy the flora and fauna. if you are bird lover, you can spot a good variety here with some patience. You may visit Tehri Dam (44 KM) and see the stagnant water whcih as submerged many hills and locations. For those who are adventurous, there a quiet a few camps who organise activities like rock climbing, terkking, rope walking etc. There are mostly in areas like Kanatal.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: This place is easily reachable from Mussorie (30 KM) and Chamba (24 KM). This place expereinces snowfall in latter part of December.

"Place to stay peaceful and close to nature."

Dhanaulti Experience: This was August 2011 when we planned to go to Dhanaulti and Kanataal in our own car and it was pre decided to go with out crossing the Mussoorie. The road and Route from Mussorie to Dhanaulti was extremely awesome and Dhanaulti was much colder than Mussorie which is about 35 KM from there. You can enjoy the nature and Eco park. There are not so much tourist spot except Two temples (One on some height and another on the way, two eco parks as picnic spot parks, site scenes, Blue point (By using horse riding) and close to nature and peace full. Market is not there to shop except some local restaurant where you may get snacks like pakoday, maggi, tea etc. (which is actually an symbol of hill station). While returning from Dhanaulti staying for one day/ night at Kanataal which is 12 KM away from there. It is an advisable option by staying in Tent /Camps of Camp Carnival to have some change. Kanataal does not have any picnic spot / tourist spot except some site scenes of natures/ hills etc. Any way it is an good place for those who are interested to have peace, close to nature and interested to walk, walk and walk in weekend. And not recommending for those they do not go in their own car.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Luch and dinner in restaurants, else snacks like pakoda, tea and maggi etc.
Activities & things to do: Walk, walk and Walk. close to nature and beauty.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Better to take woolen cloth in August too, Delhi to Dhanaulti via 290 KM, Dhanaulti to Kanataal 12 KM via Dehradun and Mussorie. And Kanataal to Delhi via Chamba and Haridwar.

"Poetic place - Be with nature"

Dhanaulti Experience: Dhanaulti is only for the nature loving groovy! With pine, deodars all around , it is far from the madding crowd. GMVN notwithstanding, the place commands utter respect.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Best food at GMVN. Kitchen staff very flexible and chief cook has a sense of taste.
Activities & things to do: Nature walk as you are next to ECO Park. The time spent here is breathtaking.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: One need not touch Mussoorie for reaching Dhanaulti. The drive is very scenic and forces you to stop repeatedly. You reach 7500 ft by just traveling 29 km from Mussorie.

"Lovely little place!"

Dhanaulti Experience: This is not a town, it's a little area. In fact, as you go up the road from Mussoorie, some part of the road is called Dhanaulti. There is nothing to 'do,' only to see and feel and enjoy. Nice walks, lovely views, fabulous temperatures (it was cold in December but not freezing cold) -- and there are two lovely walks! Perfect for a honeymoon.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Nothing but walks and weather. Only honeymooners!
Activities & things to do: Walk, cuddle, kiss
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: By cab from Mussoorie, about Rs. 700.
