Dumka is counted among the oldest districts of Jharkhand. It is surrounded by mountains, rivers and valleys. Some of the popular tourist attractions are temples, dams, parks and hill ranges. The Baba Basukinath Dham, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the prominent attractions. Another popular Shiva temple in the region, is the Baba Sumeshwar Nath Temple. The Naag Mandir, located on the Shiv Pahar, is also dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Kumrabad, Tatloi and the Mayurakshi river, are the popular picnic spots of the destination. Boating and water rides can be enjoyed in the Water Park. The hill range, stretching south from Pakur to Godda, terminates in the Mangalbhanga Hill. Kathikund, surrounded by forests and hills, houses many attractions, such as the Gopikandar, Saldoha Laprocy Mission and the Nargunj.
