Gwalior Experience: Gwalior being one of the historical places in india has many places worth seeing like gwalior fort, jai vilas palace museum, sas bahu & sun temples etc. The place is not expensive from the viewpoint of lodging & boarding expenses and local transportation expenses.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The in house restaurant at sita manor was quite ok and the food was hygienic, fresh and delicious. The menu card was quite expansive and the rates of different items on a la- carte basis or combo basis didn't burn a hole in the pocket. For shopping one may go to 'bara' in lashkar area, where thousands of shops sell all sort of items at reasonable rates. One must buy ' itar' i.e. scent derived from flowers like rose & such our fragrant flowers.
Activities & things to do: Just enjoy roaming the markets and eat street food like 'poha'- a local specialty, chaat, golgappas & bhelpuri. Hire a taxi or an auto if you are on a shoe string budget to visit all the above said places
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: One may reach by shatabadi train which hardly takes about 3 hours from new delhi railway station

"Land of the Scindias"

Gwalior Experience: Gwalior can be easily termed as the \'land of the Scindias'. Everything in Gwalior has something attached to this royal family. Nevertheless, its a beautiful place, specially for those who loves history. The Gwalior fort is a marvel by itself. One of the oldest fort in India, its blue and golden colour glows like a jewel.Being a visitor to a number of forts, I found this fort quite amazing. The underground dungeons with pitch dark inside (only torches are allowed) gives you a shiver down the spine. The light-and-sound-show is a must for any traveller. The nearby 'Shaas-Bahu' temple is also worth-seeing. The 'Jai Vilas Palace', popularly known as the Scindia Palace is also a treat for the eye. Still the present residence of the Scindias, about 35 rooms have been converted into museums. The indoor swimming pool, world one of the largest chandeliers, Asia's biggest hand woven carpets, a huge and majestic 'darbar hall' - the list goes on. Last but ont the least, the tomb of Tansen and his mentor Ghaus Mohammaed. Although, not as grandeur as those in Agra, the very name Tansen takes you back to the Mughal Age. Those who have not gone to Puri and Konark, can see the Sun Temple, a replica of the one at Konark and Jagannath Temple in a miniature form combined into one.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Nothing special about food, shooping is another attractive option for ladies.
Activities & things to do: The only activity in Gwalior, I reckon, is travelling and shopping.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Gwalior is well connected by road ann rail throughout India although flights are not that regular from every place.

"Gwalior-Historical Paradise"

Gwalior Experience: It has a famous GWL FORT which was appericiated by Babar. The fort also has a place from where Rani of Jhansi took her last leap while battling with the English. In the fort's periphery there's a religious place significant to Sikh's known as 'Data Bandi Chor' gurudwara. Jains come here to see the 20 feet tall statues of Lord Mahavira and other Masters. Its a place where Tansen was born and has a Musoleum of him as per his last wish. It has a replica of Konark Sun temple built by Birla's. Also has famous museum called 'gujari mahal' from where sculptures are exhibited at International levels many a times. It also has a modern museum belonging to Scindia, the former king of this place.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Well there are loads n loads of delicacies that are available in Gwalior and dont forget to eat 'gajak' which is very popular in gwalior.. Food is both tasty and cheap.
Activities & things to do: Besides travelling u can also enjoy waterpark, amusement park called 'sun city'..
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Gwalior is well connected with all the major railways and roads are also an option!!
