"Best to visit in cool weather" new review

Hampi Experience: Hampi-Facilities has to be improved.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Hospet nearest City to hampi 12kms from Hampi also has very few hotels. Sight- seeing you will need more than 3 days to see all historical monuments. After sunset you will get a very nice view of rocks as Yellow and white lights flashed on them near Virupaksha temple .
Activities & things to do: Thungabhadra river and its channels , you can play in river near Virupaksha Temple . Also visit Dam . many historical places, Architecture of 1800AD. Best season is August to january .
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: from bangalore Via Tumkur road , continue till Chitradurga take right deviation to Hospet then to Hampi. For food, chitradurga is nice place to stop, as you wont get any good hotels for next 150-180kms except 1 or 2 poor Dhabas till Hospet

"Not ideal location to travel to Hampi"

Hampi Experience: This location is convenient only if you are travelling to Anegundi, this is a place where you can see the ruins of the bridges. But do not plan to stay here if you are planning to visit Hampi.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: This place is known for very good rice and this town is called Paddy town. Not many restaurants are there to have good food. One can try out the typical rural food.
Activities & things to do: When you visit Angundi you have some places where foreigners enjoy swimming and sun tanning.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The only way to reach is by road.

"Great place"

Hampi Experience: Its a world heritage site n surprisingly very few people know about it. I would highly recommend a visit to humpi. Even if u r not too fond of history n heritage, u will enjoy hampi.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Eat at mango tree, also if u staying at gowri guest house make sure u eat there as often to enjoy the awesome home cooked food they offer.
Activities & things to do: Hire a bike or just walk and do not forget ur camera. U can get a guide frpm the gov authorized tourist center and its a really good option to get one so u enjoy the heritage sites more. A bus tour leaves at 8 am everyday, its a Karnataka tourism development initiative which is really good n worth it.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: All heritage sites are on one side of the river but if u prefer to enjoy nature n like a calm n peaceful stay then stay on the opposite side. Boats are easily available to cross the river.

"Bumpy Humpy"

Hampi Experience: The roads are very bumpy and bad to humpy but the location and the ruins are very beautiful. It is the perfect getaway for a peaceful weekend at a cheap price.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Mougli is a good resort to live in and hang out at. check out all the ruins and the river side dam area is beautiful at night to have a beer.
Activities & things to do: Check out ruins cycling
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The distance may seem less but take time as double for a regular route of same distance as roads are really bad. At night time river travel is closed and also to cross by car, a bridge has to be crossed which makes the route really long. So check which side of the river your resort is and plan the route accordingly. Take a resort on the bank opposite to the ones with ruins and temples if you are looking for good crowd, resorts and chilling.

"I Love Hampi!"

Hampi Experience: Hampi is a great place to visit for those who value heritage and rich culture we Indians inherit and somehow fail to recognize and value that.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food was very good. We liked it.
Activities & things to do: Heritage sites around the bazar street. I would recommend all the places in fact, cover as much as possible and you would not be disappointed.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Travel with a mosquito repellant. Shades and an umbrella would really keep you cool under the scorching sun.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is good in Hospet, there are nice restaurants in the city. Thungabadra Dam is another place to watch and spend time.
Activities & things to do: Carry plenty of water in summer, go in groups and take the help of the local guides to know better about the place
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Best route is through Challakere, Bellary, hospet and Hampi. Best time to travel to Hampi is in winter or from June to December. Traveling during summer will be horrible as the heat is much during this period

"Hampi, a Beautiful Place"

Hampi Experience: Hampi is marvelous place to visit in the country. No doubt its a world heritage site. Here one sees the amalgamation of history and nature blended beautifully. All the sites are situated near the Tungabhadra river. In the evening its more beautiful, the boulders, temples, and amazingly architectural palaces showered and bathed by the purple rays of the sun in the mist. One can't miss boating in the river, winding through the boulders and artificially created boulder small houses.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Mango tree Restaurant on the bank of Tungabhardra is the main attraction. The taste of the food is increased many fold when we have it at the shore over looking small hilltops of boulder and limpid river water.
Activities & things to do: Visit all the places. Other important thing is to stroll around the main site and other hilltops.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: One can go there by air and road. We went there by train from Bangalore. Got down at Hospet and from there went to Hampi by taxi.

"Weekend at Hampi"

Hampi Experience: Hampi is a place in Karnataka that has remnants of the 15th century Vijayanagara empire. The place is full of old temples and architecture and has a old and villagey touch to it.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Had at Shanti guest house, and Mango Tree restaurant - both great. Lot of foreign tourists, so good international cuisine available for very moderate prices. Sumptous breakfast with juice, tea, baked beans, mushrooms etc. for around 120 Rs. Attractions include Hampi itself, and places on the resort side of Hampi (other side of river) - Anegundi, Hanuman temple etc.
Activities & things to do: Its a place to chill out. Feel free to bring your favourite novel. There is a small river - one side is Hampi, the other is resorts like Shanti guest house etc. You can tour Hampi in an auto for as much as 500 Rs. Some auto-wallahs may even give you good explanations of the sites you are seeing (you mihgt have to pay more). Also take a moped, or a cycle, to tour places around Hampi like Anegundi. Very decent roads with fields on either side and this is a must-not-miss experience.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Reach Hospet by train or bus. Auto from Hospet to the river-side in Hampi where resorts are located is as much as Rs 180-200.

"Average"

Hampi Experience: Hamp is great sight seeing though it was ruins. I admire the kings who built this city. If the ruins are so attractive, I can not imagine how it was during its full prosperity. I am also thinking if our kings had spent such huge money for the development of people, society and nation
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food was not great and bit expensive. I did not have any shopping
Activities & things to do: I had no activities expect sight seeing
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: It is better to use your car if possible.

"Magical HAMPI"

Hampi Experience: It is indeed a great place and delight for those who love history. The ruins literally take you back to those era. Its simply awesome.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is ok but that gets compensated with sight seeing (as well as the options available for sight seeing). I hired a two-wheeler which gave the maximum freedom to explore and obviously the convenience of seeing each place at my own pace. Other transportation modes are also available. Also, they are cost effective as well. Shopping is fine like any other tourist destinations in India (more or less same stuff).
Activities & things to do: Other than short trekking options - this place is heaven for history lovers and photographers.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: I took train from bangalore to hospet and from there auto-rickshaw to reach our hotel (KSTDC hotel something bhvanshwari). No travel warnings as such - but bargain to get a good price for whatever local transport mode you avail in Hampi. Check weather condition of Hampi before travelling as I travelled during march-april and it was hot there.
