Harihareshwar Reviews

Harihareshwar Experience: Well this place is not like a those commercial tourists locations yet as its still not so popular ..But a fair one for a day or 2 start.. Road from pune needs repair and 4 Hr drive would tend to take 6/7...But nice old temples and a black sand beach....

"another gem in Konkan"

Harihareshwar Experience: Harihareshwar is a nice little beach town in Konkan also famous for sacred Harihareshwar temple. Secluded flat beach with white sands is really inviting.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Famous Harihareshwar temple - known as Kashi of South - is a must visit. Also water sports are available. Food is typical Maharashtrian stuff with also chat & south Indian options. Nothing much to shop except kokam sherbat, aamla sherat, mirchi aachar etc.
Activities & things to do: Water sports, nice long beach walk
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: 65 kms from Mangaon on Konkan railway or on Mumbai-Goa highway.

"Visit to one of the awesome beaches near Mumbai"

Harihareshwar Experience: Harihareshwar is one of the beautiful and private sort of beach near to the Mumbai. If you have or could make Pune or Mumbai as your base, a great weekend break awaits you in Konkan, Coastal Maharashtra. Sun kissed beaches, swaying palm trees and thatched roofs add up to make an awesome landscape. Dash of history and spicy seafood builds up the glory
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Delicious food with good service. Environment made the taste of food more enjoyable.
Activities & things to do: As usual MTDC gets the privilege of the best property at any locations. The property is just next to the beach with a private beach access and around a km pristine beach with white sand and rocky beach. We stayed in the Deluxe tents which is just next to the beach with a very good view.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The deluxe cottage rooms are the best since they have the best location and views. The hill which has the cottages overlooks the sea and is covered with pine trees.

"Excellent place to stay"

Harihareshwar Experience: It was all green and beautiiful! The photographic freeks in the group enjoyed the location, trees, different flowers, variety of birds etc. The fresh air and no concrete jungle unlike cities, was really relaxing.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Not to be missed was the-Kokam sarbat.. they make it really nice! Temple was nice too, its location being close to the sea gives a divine experience .
Activities & things to do: We were more in to relaxing and exploring the nature.. and it is a perfect destination for that...
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Its necessary to carry around torch and emergency supplies as we did not see a lot of clinics around or lights on some of the streets

"New Harihreshwar - Pale, timid, insipid, mundane"

Harihareshwar Experience: Its easy to reach there from both Mumbai & Pune. This is the only thing to be happy about. The hotels charge hefty prices for no good reason. 1 Night stay is enough and appropriate. It's really a small place and the main points of interests can be traversed in a day. Just make sure you reach on time {If you are lucky enough to evade traffic on highways - yes pouring in from Mumbai & Pune}. This place is loosing its charm with the grip of polluting Mumbai getting stronger and stronger.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food - For all the connoisseurs out there, there is really nothing much. I did advice to carry as much food possible with you, as the options available are really... FEW. But it depends what the purpose of the outing. Apart from beach one thing which I missed to do and should have done is - Watch the sun rise from a hill top, well not excatly a hill top but a sort of it. You can watch the sun rise over the never ending sea. That's really worth the effort {Effort you will put to wake early morning} Well at least here we can heave a sigh a of relief as there are not people pestering you to buy trivial things. There is really nothing you can buy there. I thought being a beach I can enjoy sipping coconut water, well even that was hard to locate.
Activities & things to do: Not much here, as I said 1 day is enough it a place to be enjoyed with many amany friends. The water is turning brown yellow all sorts of colour you could get from the polluting Mumbai, yes its there. You definitely can't spend much time in the beach water without affecting your skin. I won't excatly say its hazardous, but then I would not even say it perfectly clean water.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Caution - The streets are not well lit at night, carry your own torches, well you ought to whenever you go on outing. And take a reservation in the hotel neat MTDC as thats the place where everything is concentrated and accumulated. Harihareshwars beach resort is isolated, so if you dint wanna be lonely make sure you book at the right place.

"Harihareshwar....away from hustle bustle"

Harihareshwar Experience: A very beautiful and calm place. Maharashtra tourism resorts is the best place to stay in Harihareshwar...well furnished sea facing huts provides a decent accomodation at resonable price. It is a perfect getaway if you are really looking to get away from the Hustle bustle of the city life...no traffics....no cell phones literelly no cell phone, there is no mobile coverage. Provides you an opportunity to connect with yourself and the nature. The sangam point where rivers meet the sea is a rare and lovely sight to watch.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: There is not much to see in Harihareshwar except the Harihareshwar temple. Harihareshwar is not about tiring yourself going from one sighseening to the other... Its about unwinding and relaxing. Very natural suddoundings, sea, river, nature and you... Food is not that great...but also not bad.
Activities & things to do: Boating, swimming at the Sangam, connecting with nature.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Mumbai to Masla by train...from Masla its 2 hour journy to Harihareshwar. There are plenty of options from Masla, one can take MSRTC bus or 7 seater autorikshaw.

"Untouched natural beauty"

Harihareshwar Experience: Very very clean place, see through water, no dirty human trash / waste, miles of beach with complete privacy as hardly anyone visits this place, it feels like the entire beach is only for you, a rare combination of rock and sand beach together.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Not much of a variety to eat but can survive...LOL. As for shopping I bought back local savories to my house and found it to be delicious. ( poha pappad, amba polli, amla mawa) Harihareshwar beach resort will be the convinient place to stay as it is very near to the temple and the beach but don't expect any good food or service from here.
Activities & things to do: I suggest if you could ride to this place rather than driving as the beach is so long you would love to explore the entire beach, which unfortunately, I couldn't do.... I was wishing at that time if I had a bike with me. I am not sure but I guess you can travel from water ferry from Alibaug and as well as from Mumbai, they carry your bike along.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Reaching there I realised that there are few ST buses from pune and Mumbai to this place and if not you can also opt for a place called shrivardhan which is also a white sand beach and amazing and which is just 20 kms from this place. For bikers and drivers from Pune its paud road. From Mumbai its NH 17 and you turn right from Madgoan.
