"One day Stay at WaterWoods" new review

Kabini Experience: Kabini is located on the backwaters and a wonderful place to relax and spend quality time with family. A boat ride in the backwaters is a very good experience. A ride into the jungle will be lucky if you could spot wild animals.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Elephant training camp, safari ride and the old temple in the island from the resort.
Activities & things to do: Karoke, Boat ride, bike ride on the bank sand obviously relax on the river bank and enjoy sunset.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: From Bangalore: towards Mysore, take the right turn just before entering Mysore towards Hunsur and take the ring road towards Hunsur. Follow the Sign boards towards Kabini. Warning: The last 15 kms is pathetic and horrible with more potholes than road. It took nearly 50 mins to cover this stretch.

"Nature at its Best"

Kabini Experience: Two glorious days right in the middle of a wild nature. Unspoilt by Providers, unpolluted by Tourists and very well maintained by the local community and caretakers. A fantastic destination for a short 2 day getaway where you can forget the worries of the city, and RELAX in the midst of a green retreat. The jungle, a real wild river and a nice and varied population of wildlife - you cannot ask for more at some great prices if you can plan ahead and plan well.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: No Shopping - no planning. Just leave the resort to plan your day and flow with their plans. Feast your eyes to all the flora and fauna of the forest. s for food, just the ambiance of the Restaurant of the Kabini Wildlife resort nestled by the river works up a good appetite. The food and the service did not give any reason to complain and was very deserving of the fine resort that it is.
Activities & things to do: Relax, Relax and Relax.... That is what you want to do at Kabini Wildlife Resort. You do not go there to actually do things. Of course you do have to get into the vans and go wild life sighting or boating but do not consider that as an activity....The resort has put up Rope nets and tree houses to keep the kids busy in case they are not interested in putting their feet up and relaxing and it was fun for adults too actually...
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: 5 Hours from Bangalore by an AC Car was really not that uncomfortable and you can add a stop over and see the sights in Mysore (the Palace and the gardens at least if the time is less) on the return trip... Start at dawn or earlier on a week end and you actually do not need to take more than a day off from work and still enjoy a great relaxing holiday...

"Overall Expereince"

Kabini Experience: The road which goes towards Kabini is horrible roughly 2-3 kms stretch, you won't love to drive in that road but still you woudn't have any choice. One day stay it is good beyond which I think it is not worth spending time and money
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Nothing for shopping, except for Dam and temple you have nothing to see around, you have to stay in your room or move around. No games in particular.
Activities & things to do: Boat drive, walking and eating.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: IT would be good if you carry your GPRS road map you might be lost or might take longer time to reach if you are going from bangalore

"Kabini - nature at it's best"

Kabini Experience: The best place to stay in Kabini is around the water reservoir. Its peaceful, right in the midst of nature and beautiful scenery.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The jungle around Kabini is full of wild life, with lot of elephants. So the best thing to do is go for Safari's and rest of the time walk around the water front.
Activities & things to do: Jungle Safari early in the morning, Jungle Safari in the afternoon, Jungle Safari in the evening !!!
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Most people will advise you to drive down from Bangalore, to be realistic it?s a 6hour drive, so a better way is to take a train from Bangalore to Mysore (2hr train ride) and then drive down from Mysore to Kabini (1.5hour drive)

"Good wildlife place."

Kabini Experience: I and my family visited Kabini in October 2010. It js a very good wildlife destination in Karnataka, very close from Banglore and Mysore. The route is scenic, passing around villages, river and lake. Rajiv Gandhi National Park too has good road and the Safari can take you to the interiors. One can be sure of spotting many elephants and deers as a matter of routine. We were lucky to spot a leopard, sitting and eating on a tree. There are many resorts in the area and it is a very good weekend destination.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: There are no good hotels for food and the resort where you stay usually provides AP plan which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sight-seeing by Jeep safari through the forest is organised by Govt. of Karnataka and the resort can arrange for the same. Boat Safari through the river Kabini is also enjoyable. We could not take the elephant safari because all elephants were sent to Mysore for Dasehara.
Activities & things to do: The place is calm and cool and apart from various safaris, one can trek nearby places or simply relax in the surroundings of the river.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The place is approachable by motorable road from Mysore, Mangalore and Calicut (Kerala).

"Exotic Holiday Resort!"

Kabini Experience: I visited the Orange County Resort at Kabini, with my family, in January 2010. It is a very exotic place because of it environment and the location;an ideal place for holidaying with family. It is on the Kabini River and surrounded by the forests. It has got limited villas which are spread out well. The villas in the Resort are very comfortable and very elegantly furnished with suttlety. They have an excellant restaurant and the service is impeccable. The river safari is an enjoyable one where one has opprtunity to watch the elephants and deers in their natural movements.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The Resort provides for water and Safaries taking into the nearby forests where one can herds of elephants and deers. The ride on the coracle in the River is very enjoyable. They also organise elephant rides within the Resort. As this Resort is about 90 KM from Mysore, there is not much scope for shopping exept at Mysore.
Activities & things to do: The activities of Safaries and Coracle ride in the River are good and quite enlivening the mood.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: This Resort is 90 KM from Mysore by road. the road is a motarable one. and the secenery en route is nice.

"Wildlife at Kabini"

Kabini Experience: Kabini, some 2 hrs drive from Mysore is a beautiful wild life destination, far from concrete jungles, this is a destination for young and elderly as well. The air is amazingly fresh especially during the early morning hours.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food at the resort was good and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Activities & things to do: Jeep safari in the morning or a boat ride on the river will leave you fresh for the day. You can also try cicada ride or an elephant ride. The wild life movie at the resort though quite famous, is a very depressing tale.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Stay in Kabini at least for 2 days so that you can have at least 4 safaris in the morning as well as evening, as spotting wide animals like leopard and tigers may not always be possible. We were instructed not to wear perfume, bright or white cloths. Do carry all the necessary things with you as you won't find any shop near the sanctuary.

"A wild experience in Kabini"

Kabini Experience: Kabini is actually the name of the river flowing close to 3 national parks: Bandipur, Madhumalai & Nagarhole. The area on the banks of Kabini river near Nagarhole is known as Kabini. It is approximately 220 Km from Bangalore. The roads are pretty good except the last 15 kms which are in a real bad shape. Advisable to travel by a high level vehicle like a qualis/tavera/innova
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Most of the resorts offer you all meals inclusive plans. The Jungle Lodges Resort offers meals which are like home cooked meals. Sight seeing is by safari's into the Nagarhole forests. All hotels have their safari jeeps which take you inside the forest. One safari ride inside the forest is actually not enough and it is advisable to take at least 2-3 safari's each of which last approx 2.5 hrs. The safari's are restriced to 6.30 am to 9.00 am & 4:00 pm to 6.30 pm. There is not much to shop except at the souvenir shops of the resort you stay in.
Activities & things to do: Take the jungle Safari's, relax, enjoy nature at its' best. switch of your mobile phones (network works inside the jungle also at most places) and cut your self off from the world. Most of the resorts do not have TV except Orange County which has recently installed TV sets due to complaints from guests
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Kabini is approx 220 KM from Bangalore. From Bangalore reach Mysore from where it is approx 2 hours drive

"Mystic Mist Meandering through the Moss"

Kabini Experience: The best nature resort I have been to in Karnataka. The most awesome feature about the Kabini trip was the safari through the dense forest - especially early morning. The mist swirls around the trees and shrubs and shrouds the whole region into mystery. It felt like a dream.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Awesome sight seeing. You are in the middle of a forest and the greenery can make you forget all your troubles!
Activities & things to do: Safari is great even if you don't spot the elusive tiger. Or for that matter, even if you don't spot a single animal! The coracle ride was good, it was impossible seeing a tiny round boat actually carrying 5 persons across the river! The rope climbing activity to get into the tree house brought me back to my childhood. Oh, and did i mention the swinging on the tyres? :-)
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Reach Kabini Jungle lodges and resorts by a 4.5 hr drive from bangalore. carry mosquito lotion, or wear full sleeved clothing. Be sure to carry something warm even if its middle of summer - the early morning and late evening rides through the forest can be quite chilling!
