Kamarpukur located in the Hooghly District of West Bengal is primarily recognized as the birthplace of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhamsadev. The ancestral home of Ramakrishna was situated in this village and later Ramakrishna Math was also founded. The place is highly revered by the disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. Kamarpukur is preferred by many tourists as a notable destination for its seclusion and natural attraction. The village is dotted with numerous ponds. The age-old buildings, tanks and remnants of ancient shrines are the major attractions of the visitors to Kamarpukur. The Haldapukur Tank is with its unpolluted natural surrounding is a popular destination here. Some other notable tanks frequented by tourists are Talpukur Tank and Mother’s Tank.

A visit to some other shrines like Mukundapur Siva Temple, Goddess Visalakshi shrine, Matri Mandir, Simhavahini Temple, Dharma Thakur Temple, Sihar Shiva Temple and Dhani Kamarini’s Temple are also noteworthy. Another religious site is the Dargah of Ismail Guji, visited by people of all faiths. Tourists also visit the ruins of the historical fort of Garh Mandaran belonging to the Afghan period. Tourists are also attracted to the Deer park of Kamarpukur, admired with hilly terrains. The residence of Sitanath Pyne and Chinu Shankhari’ birthplace are also nearby popular destinations.
