Flocked by travellers from all the corners of the world, Kedarnath is situated in the Uttarkashi district of Uttaranchal. The place is home to plenty of tourist attractions which include temples, lakes and pilgrim centres.
One of the most popular sightseeing places located in the Kedarnath is the Kedarnath Temple, which is probably also the most sacred Hindu shrine. Believed to be constructed by Sankaracharya, this temple is located in the Garhwal region of Himalayas. The temple is also believed to be one of the major Shiva temples in the country.
Another popular attraction that tourists can visit is the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. Sprawling over an area of 975 sq. km, this sanctuary was established in 1972. Rich in flora and fauna, this sanctuary is one of the best places in Uttaranchal as it is home to different species of animals such as snow leopard, snow cock and musk deer.
Vasuki Tal, one of the most beautiful spots in entire Uttaranchal, is located at a distance of 8 km from Kedarnath. Surrounded by the great Himalayan ranges, this lake is situated at an altitude of around 4,135 m above sea level. June to October is the best time to visit this lake. Some of the other tourist attractions that travellers can visit are Shankaracharya Samadhi, Bhairav Nath Temple, Deoria Tal and Chorbari.
