Please take oxygen cylinder and necessary medicine as the oxygen level is low there in evening and night. Take light and energetic food and don't go very fast movement.

Kedarnath Experience: It was very nice but the journey from Gourikund to Kedarnath is very very tiring. Ignoring that, the beauty what we witnessed will never ever forget, we traveled many tourist spots where we found snow/ice but Kedarnath is one of the best. Don’t hesitate to bargain before hiring a pony.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: For food you don't hav any choice but to take what it is available in the hotel. For sight seeing you can spent whole day enjoying the ice/snow. Shopping- ???

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: drive down from haridwar to phatta via Ruder prag and then 10minues helicopter journey to Kedarnathji and from landing strip about half a km walk .less oxygen ,quite cold and one has to walk very slowly and continue to sip water and lemon juice journey is quite tough one can be held back due to land slides and some times for a day or two as the roads are very narrow with full curves

Kedarnath Experience: Our journey started on 02nd of May from Narora (180 km From Delhi). We were 6 persons all adult, 2 Male and rest female. We hired a SCORPIO vehicle for our total journey. Our route was Kotdwar - Pauri- Srinagar - Rudraprayag - Augustmuni - Phata - Sitapur - Guptkashi - Gaurikund - Kedarnath (in my view this is the shortest route to reach Kedarnath). We reached at Rudraprayag at about 20:15 Hrs. We stayed in a single room having 2 double bed, room rent was Rs 1000/- + fooding. Next day we started our journey at 08:15 Hrs reached at Gaurikund at 11:30 Hrs, parked our vehicle at Sonprayag, took pony for all (bargained rate Rs 600/- per pony) and started ascending journey. At Ramwara we took halt, had light refreshment for us and ponies (it is costly but considering the height and terrine it is reasonable). It started drizzling from Ramwara, plastic cover (cost Rs 30/-) to protect yourself from light downpour is available through out the way, before we reached Kedarnath it became snow - a wonderful experience! 2 KM before Kedarnath almost everything around you was white a total cover of thick ice all around. We reached Kedarnath, the journey time from Gourikund to Kedarnath is almost five & half Hrs with pony. Everybody was totally exhausted, the shivering cold (temp may be was less than zero at that time) make it horrible, we felt the urgent need of a hotel with some heating system. Took a cup of tea (@ Rs25/-) and went for searching hotel. We found GMVN guest house, its name was “Renbasera” 500 mtrs from Kedarnath temple.Bargained room rent was Rs 800/-. It had a room heater (they claim they are the only hotel who has this type of room heater rest all use dry wood for heating arrangement). We took a room having 2 triple beds. Every body jumped over the room heater it took us two hours to feel warmer. Then we came out of hotel it was a fool moon night so a picturesque scenic beauty. We had our dinner there itself, @ Rs 80/- for full diet it was only puri- sabjee- dal & rice, but the test was good. Next morning we reached at the temple at around 08:00 Hrs. From hotel to temple the path (you can say it an ice walkway) was slippery, we were walking between two 10 feet wall of ice upto the temple. There were only few worshipers at that time. The temple was almost covered with ice, surrounded by peaks of astonishing mountain landscape. We had our breakfast and start descending, bargained rate for ponies this time was Rs 500/-. The descending journey was more tiring than the ascending. Reached Gourikund within four hours. The road from Gourikund to Kedarnath is made of boulders; the ponies have a tendency to walk almost with the end corner of the road so it is little bit of risk and frightening also. You may experience breathing trouble reaching Kedarnath. Winter clothing is must. We travel a lot, almost twice a year, but this journey was perhaps the best which we will not forget ever.

Kedarnath Experience: I hv been to Kedarnath ji in June, 2011. it is in Uttrakhand, india. one of the Char Dham, kedarnathji is a place of lord Shiva. Road way is up to Gauri Kund but after that 14 km walk on hills is a great experience of its own. After so much tiredness and cold, when we reached on the peak of hill, there was an old temple of kedarnathji.Such an antique.If i get a chance again, i'll definitely want to go there. OM NAMAH SHIVAI.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Mostly restaurants in Gauri Kund are of Chinese, but we see some eating outlets where we can get punjabi, rajasthani & gujarati food items. MAGGI is the main food. attraction of the destination is the maid kedarnath temple on the hills but yesh Gauri Kund, a naturally hot water pond is also an attraction, which can not missed.Shopping is quite impossible but yeh when we reached Shrinagar or Joshi Math, we can get some tradiitonal dresses, jewellery or pots.

Activities & things to do: The main activity is that u hv the patience to travel about 430 km continuously one way in which last 14 km is on foot and on hills. quite difficult but yeah most interesting. while going there one must hv woollen clothes, some general medicines, yes the most important is KAPUR, ( available on Puja stores) which help on the hills cold weather.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: We were there by Bus. From Delhi to Haridwar (200 km) by bus, then Haridwar to Gauri Kund(350-400 km) by bus. Starting from Haridwar, after Rishikesh, we travel on hills up to Gauri kund all the way is round and round. If some one has alergy in traveling on hills, must carry vomitting tabs and eat light food as much as possible. woollen clothes are must. While traavelling on hills smell of 'Kapur', eating kishmish or nuts help to prevent cold.
