About Khodala Tourism
 
Khodala village, situated at a height of 1800 feet, is part of the Thane District, in the state of Maharashtra. Thick woody forests surround the village, which is largely inhabited by tribal people, who still believe and live according to their traditional rituals and values. The major tourist attraction of the village is the tribal dance and music that is usually performed on festivals and special occasions throughout the night.

Aborigines living in this village still practice animal sacrifice that was prominent during the Vedic age. This is an ideal picnic spot which is located at around 150 km from the state capital Mumbai. At the village of Khodala can enjoy adventure activities, such as mountain biking, waterfall rappelling and trekking. Amala Wildlife Sanctuary is a popular tourist attraction of Khodala which is inhabited by numerous species of reptiles and other animals.

Birdwatching is a famous tourist activity in the region as there are different bird species inhabiting the place and many fly here during the season of migration. Khodala village is also known for Tringalwadi Fort, Vaitarana Lake, Deobandh Temple and Suryamal mountain peak. Tourists coming to the village can eat vada pavs that are traditional snacks in Maharashtra.

Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai is the nearest airport to the village of Khodala. Taxis and state transport buses are available from this airport to reach the tribal village. Igatpuri Railway Station is situated 30 km away from the village, which is connected with Mumbai and Pune through local trains. The ideal time to travel to Khodala is during the time of celebration of tribal festivals and night long poojas. Tourists can also reach the village during the peak season, extending from October through June.

Khodala Experience: Khodala is a hill station.Very close to the city,150 kmt from Mumbai.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Cam site food is good and nice.
Activities & things to do: Adventure activities like, rock climbing,rappelling,jumer ring,vally crossing, flying fox, night trek,and rafting on vaitarna river camping in adventure camp zone.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Take local train from the V T st.and get of at Kasara st. from kasara st. take jeep to khodala from khodala take right turn to adventure camp zone, 2 kmt only.

Khodala Experience: Wild Camp resort is at Khodala..100kms from Thane & two & half hrs drive from Mumbai...having village type set up cottages & dormitories to stay for family & friends group. swimming pool, rain dance, indoor-outdoor games... tasty food... helpful staff..
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Deobandh--2-3kms from resort...nice Ganesh temple & river is there... suryamal is sunset point... can njoy day safari..
Activities & things to do: Swimming pool, rain dance, indoor-outdoor games... trekking...njoy the nature.....best for adventure activities.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The Place Wild Camp Resort is at Khodala, Tal - Mokhada.. Approx two & half hrs drive from Mumbai. Can go through mumbai nasik highway..left from Jawhar Phata.. then its straight to Khodala...

Tourist places in Khodala

Khodala village is located in the Thane District of Maharashtra. This traditional village is surrounded by dense forests and lies at a height of 1,800 ft above sea level. It is popular for attractions like the Tringalwadi Fort, Vaitarana Lake and Igatpuri-Kasara Ghats.

The prime attraction of the region is the Deobandh temple, located along the Wild Camp at Kherwadi. This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is famous for the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations.

Another tourist spot located in Khodala is the Suryamal mountain peak, the highest peak in the region. Khodala is also popular for the Amala Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to birds like black drongos, magpies, robins and orioles.
