Koderma Experience: Exciting, lovely, Outstanding...
We visited Tilayia Dam on last 16-02-09. We stayed at Barhi which is 26 KM from the dam. By our own we, the 15 boys from Bishnupur, West Bengal, started for Tilayia at 2pm and reached there in 40 minutes. It is not only a dam but also 3 Hydrol projects are here, which product 350 Megawatt power everyday. The most attractive thing is the deep blue water of the dam. You are compelled to stare at it with wonder. It can easily be resembled with the deep blue water of the beaches of Western countries. We hired a machine-boat for Rs. 300 and roamed along the water for about 2 hours. The boatman was really a gentleman. He took us to the islands in the dam. We got down from the boat and enjoyed the beauty of them. One of them was of ivory-white colour, one deep black in which a big tree stood to welcome us. We took tiffin with us and had it sitting beside the rippling waters of the island. Later we got down and saw the Hydro-projects though we were not allowed to enter the area. The coloured-stone-design beside the path towards the rest house is an another attractive thing of Tilayia.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: There's nothing special for food at Tilayia but there are some tea shops. The tea was of course very tasty.
Activities & things to do: First of all you have to take tickets from the counter, which cost Rs. 5 each. Then you must have to hire a machine-boat or a speed boat to roam about. Don't forget to take some snacks with you as it must be a matter of great enjoyment taking them while rushing along the water.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Stay in any hotel at Barhi or Hazaribag and hiring a car from there start straight for Tilayia.
