Ladakh (Leh) Reviews

"My Leh Ladakh Trip"

Ladakh (Leh) Experience: This beautifully desolate and remote land abounds in breathtakingly awesome physical features with numerous Passes, winding rivers, glacial slopes and shimmering lakes leaves you spell bound with their mystical qualities
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Blessed with natural scenic wonders, this region is situated at approx. 12000 ft above sea level in the himalayan range of Leh Ladakh, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The region is extremely picturesque and a photographers delight.
Activities & things to do: The Leh Ladakh region is harsh and barren, yet stunningly beautiful. The roads are narrow, and the drive is bone jarring. Take an experienced driver who has driven on this terrain.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: In order to enjoy the scenic wonders this land has to offer, taking a flight directly to Leh is not advisable. And if you have reached Leh by flight, then stay for a couple of days in the town to get yourself acclamatise. Then proceed further.

"Leh - A peep in"

Ladakh (Leh) Experience: The airplane lands on the world's highest air field located in the midst of colossal mountains. You have to get acclimatised for 2 days before you can roam around. At 18000 + feet Khardungla makes you breathless. You can see the Siachen peaks from Khardungla. Siachen means wild roses and they are seen in plenty on the way to Khardungla.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The Indira Gandhi Shanti stupa is an imposing structure and as you move out to Nimu, the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar is stunning. Just beyond, there is the magnetic hill, where a static vehicle gets pulled up a gradient and even planes avoid going over it. The monastries of Spituk, Thikse and Hemis are serene places and highway 1 alpha winds you to Kargil and beyond. The road to Chumatang on China border makes one feel as if you are very near to heaven and sight of the millions of stars in a totally unpolluted environment tempts one to actually pluck a few from the sky. Shopping - vegetables/fruits-apricots are very delicious. Handicrafts are tempting but expensive.
Activities & things to do: Catch your breath...Relax & roam; river rafting, trekking, rock climbing, rappelling.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: A great flight from Delhi with a breathtaking view of the snow capped peaks. Acclimatise at least for 2 days. Don’t be over adventurous, cover your head and ears, vitamin C, sunscreen lotion is a must; drink lots of water, eat light meals, don’t over exert. A close acquaintance with army officer makes things easy and comfortable.
