"Manali a destination for Peace."

Manali Experience: God has created the destination Manali. Feel it with your eyes and heart. Pollution free and plastic free hills with lovely snow pick all around.Attraction of Manali lies everywhere in the hills specially the river Bias.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: One should not miss Tandur alu parathas available in the road side dhabas of Manali. In mall road variety of shops are there for shopping of any ones choice. One should experience at least a night stay in Naggar. Should not miss Solang valley and from there about half an hour horse ride to see nature created Shiv Linga. Rohtang Pass is so beautiful but cannot go there in winter.
Activities & things to do: There are many activities like rock climbing, para gliding, taking a dip in the hot spring, leisure walk, visit to Hirimba temple and most to enjoy the beauty of the nature.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Manali is well connected from Chandigar and Kalka. Wide roads , beautiful tunnels. Plenty of Bus and taxi services operated by HP government and private are available. There is no dishonesty and cheating.Tourists should not drive theit own veichle unless they are enough experienced in hill drive.

"Frosty mornings to reset your memories"

Manali Experience: Manali, the place which never looses freshness is the best place i visited. The cold climate, whopping mountain cliffs,un pollutable greenery makes it an unique place to visit.People are friendly, and one can easily select this place for a revisit as it shares nothing in common with any other tourist place in india.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is mainly north style, people from south india may find a little hard to have their tummies filled, yet one can manage.Rohtang pass is the ultimate destiny to every tourist as the entire path on its way keeps our nerves stiff due to curvy roads with narrow edges which leaves us with enthralling excitement.October to February is the ice time but it may be closed during these days, one may go upto snow line.Kashmiri cotton sarees are extremely good buy as we can get them no where in South.
Activities & things to do: River rafting in kullu valley, para gliding in Rohtang are must to do adventures for daring ones, worth their money(donot hesitate to bargain).however, one may not find snow skating interesting as it requires stamina and experience;above all, very expensive for the seconds of pleasure we get.Beware of the so called photographers who may take unwanted snaps and demand money for every casual snap they click over you.if you carry a camera, do not go for professional photographers.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Best way to reach Manali is by air, from Delhi to Bhuntan, from there, 2 hrs drive. For those with mountain sickness, take anti nausea tablets one hour before journey,or you may puke all the way in ur journey in the never ending ghat roads. If your journey is planned by holiday booking agents, make sure that they give a printed format of all the details and insist for every service, and pay in installments only, otherwise you may face trouble.

"Adventures at Manali"

Manali Experience: The destination was worth visiting in January as we got snow as well as we experienced snow fall. I remember, we were shopping on the Mall Road and it starting snow fall. The market is having everything in it. People there are very helpful and pleasing. Polite in thier speech. We planning to visit the same place again
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Shopping in Manali was fun. Bought many things from there. Still YE DIL MANGE MORE. I missed Rohtang but was still happy as we spended one full day at Solang Valley. Did all activities. Going to a 10200 ft height was the best experience ever.Even the hot water spring is too good. Kullu is awesome for river rafting and club house for river crossing.
Activities & things to do: We did Paragliding, skiing, tube falling. Walking on ice was a wonderfull experience. If one visits Manali, should go to Solang Valley if you miss that means you missed nature. You will be lucky if you get Rohtang open. In addition, dont miss to visit Club House for River Crossing and Kullu for River Rafting.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: One should prefer to go by air from Delhi to Kullu and than by road its Just 2 hours drive. Never go by road to Dharamshala from Manali as the travelling by road didnt suited me.

"From an offbeat view!"

Manali Experience: Overcrowded, littered, dirty, mucky streets greet you as you enter the main town. Manali is located along the sides of the river Beas (Vyas Muni's name given to the river). The Beas at Manali is at it's picturesque best (if you ignore the part where it passes through the main town where trucks and jeeps are being washed in it), the waters tumbling and gushing over rocks and pebbles, attracting many river-rafting enthusiasts. The Himalayas surround Manali and are visible from any point in Manali. What was shocking in Manali were the traffic-jams on the road to Solang Nalla and Rohtang. The last time I had visited Manali was 16 years earlier in 1995 when we stayed at the Mountaineering Institute and trekked to Rohtang Pass and I was heartbroken to see the current state of Manali. It is battered by the onslaught of tourists not unlike me. It is choking and gasping under the loads of litter piled up in it and the fumes emitted by the tourist vehicles. Seriously, something needs to be done about it. What needs to be done is easily a topic for extensive research as I see this onslaught of tourists at almost all hill-stations in India. However, the Himalayan range being the fragile eco-system that it is, I think tourism surely needs to be more eco-friendly here.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Momos can be had fresh at most of the streetside restaurants, but avoid eating street-food here, stick to your hotel's restaurant or pack sandwiches when you are backpacking/sightseeing. Favourite tourist destinations (and the most crowded) are: Rohtang, Solang Nalla, Hidimba Temple, Manikaran hot springs, etc. Do not shop at Manali, everything's available where you came from and the shopping area is hideously mucky and dirty. Manali (Kullu actually) is famous for its woollen shawls and the Tibetan market can be looked at if you want raw-wool sweaters and stuff, but they never last.
Activities & things to do: Trekking, trekking and trekking. The real beauty of the Himalayas can be enjoyed only by trekking through the mountains. Choose any route depending on the duration and height above MSL and go trek! Hire a local guide if you have not already booked a trek online, you can see at least a thousand advertisements put up in the main town for trekking. Go river rafting on the Beas if you like. Go up in the hot-air ballon and have a look at the Beas from a height (the balloon is anchored, so you will not be picked up by a current of air). Paraglide at Solang Nalla or learn to ski on the slopes! Throw snowballs or sled in the snow at Rohtang(or near depending on the point you are allowed to reach on the Rohtang road. The road is bad because of frequent landslides).
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The best way to reach Manali is to go upto Bhuntar by flight and then hire a taxi upto Manali. Another way is to reach Chandigarh/Pathankot by rail and then hire a taxi. When I visited Manali in late May, the weather was tricky. There were unseasonal thunderstorms and rain because Global Warming is throwing all seasons into disarray and the effect is more so in the fragile eco-system of the Himalayas. Avoid road travel at night, the roads are bad and risky. The most amazing thing I experienced in terms of modern engineering was the tunnel at Aut (on the way to Manali from Chandigarh), this tunnel is about 3 km long and has a double lane highway passing through it!

"It Is Enchanting As Ever Before"

Manali Experience: Manali is going to remain as one of the Favorite destination of mine from North Indian Hill stations.Though it is a bit tiring journey on road to reach this destination, but it makes you forget your journey memories & fill you with new synergy & excitement once you enter this Town.It is full of activities with hustle bustle of tourists, You really don't feel alone & abandoned at this place as you are sure to get caught or meet with someone you know in past & present.`
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The restaurants & eateries are all the same old Favorites For chinese cuisine nothing like Chopsticks in the main market, for North Indian delicacies you have many options but prefer to give a try at Shere-E - Punjab (original restaurant )or Raj Rasoi, both in the main market . There are many good options for pizza & burger lovers, but they are bit away from the main market . So if you luv to walk little distances than no issues.Johnsons Restaurant , Pine Treat , both serve very tasty wood baked Pizzas & other tasty continental dishes.
Activities & things to do: If you are a nature lover & a good adventurer , than this is the place to be. I can say this very confidently as this was my 3rd visit in last 5 years , myself & family enjoyed each time & moment here. As you all must have heard before about the places to visit in Manali, but what's wrong if I mention it again, good for those who haven't hard or planning to visit in future. So here we go on our sight seeing trip in Manali. the must & must place for all the tourists is to go to visit Rohtang Pass to enjoy the snow covered mountains & play snow games & enjoy ski, sledging, ski moped trip .But unfortunately this place is open for just 4 months i.e June - September.Person has to start very early to reach this place, it is 52 kms. from Manali ( the Top most point). We started at 3.30 in the early morning for this destination and reached at 6.30. Don't have to explain the expereince in words , one can see the Pictures attached with this & can judge on its own. While coming back we have to face a heavy traffic jams as thousand of vehicles are standing on the side ways of the narrow ( this is the only parking facility available !). Tourists who started late like say by 8 or 9 in the morning from there respective hotels have to satisfy their hunger of enjoyuing the snow & activities much before the Rohtang Pass point about 20- 25 kms before itself near the places like Marhi & Vyas Kund which are small eatery & relaxation points on the way to Rohtang Pass. No Traffic is allowed to pass onwards from these places after 9 o clock as the road on the way to Rohtang point is already jammed full with vehicles. Reached back to Manali around 1 p.m ( 5 hours tiring journey for 52 kms) we still consider ourselves very lucky after this because the other tourists who have started late in the morning can reach only half way through and also have to be in the traffic for almost double the time, Thus 50% of the tourists you can find on their way back to Manali pulling their hairs in anger & frustration, I am not joking it is very true, Don't believe than me try it once !. After reaching back hit the bed right way & took rest for long 4-5 hours , got up in the evening freshened up & visit the main market to satisfy your hunger , do little window shopping along with your companion.came back to room enjoyed the Dinner in the hotel's Roof top Restaurant of our Hotel - Whispering Valley Resorts . Read my review on this Hotel in details , you can give a thought to it as it is very nice budget hotel. Next morning plan to cover the rest of the Manali town sightseeing & the Solang Valley Point( another must visit place for both religious & adventures people).Solang valley is known for the Skiing point is winters but in summer time it is known for Para gliding, Cable car journey, and many other activities. The Rope way cable car was started just 2 years back . It was very nice experience to go by rope way ( price of the ticket could be bit expensive for some budget travellers). The view from the top of Rope way is breathtaking and it is money's worth you spent . A person can sit here & enjoy the beauty & can also take part in some adventures games conducted here (Of course you have to pay for everything.. nothing comes free ).In Solang valley we visited Anajaya & Shiv temple situtated on the other side of valley , We hired Pony's to visit this place. These temples are situated on a little steep point ( clim about 50- 60 steps) after crossing a small stream & some big stones around it. This complete journey to Temples take about 1 hour time. Started back from Solang Valley to cover the other local points in Manali town.First place which is on way to Manali was Vashisht Temple, famous for its sulphur springs, Next visited Club house , known for many recreational activities for children & adults so not to missed, that's the reason it is over crowded whenever you visit this place in day time. Lot of small eatery joints, restaurants & shops are opened in this place. Next place we visited was Manu temple in Situtated In Old Manali Town , The walk in this old town amidst old style homes is not be missed. But many tourists give it a miss as they are not interested going there,That\'s why this place is the most preferred location of foreign tourists(away main town rush). They love this place & the atmosphere of this old town. There are number of Guest houses for their accommodation & best of the Bakeries & Cafes of Manali which serve these tourists here with all the Continental food they desire for...Manu temple is situtated in the midst of old town , very clean & without any tourist rush. Our next destination from here was Hadimba Temple (last destination), It is located beautifully in the midst of green trees. It was very much over crowded & you can witness long queues of devotees waiting to enter inside of the main temple to offer their prayers . As it started raining , so we gave away thought of standing in a queue to enter the inner part of temple & just paid our respect from the outside doors of the temple. Came back to hotel again relaxed a bit had evening tea in th e hotel balcony viewing The Beas river flowing it its full throttle( very different experience when compared to evening tea at home).Visited main market for a walk had some fast food in famous joints. came back, had late dinner in Hotel Restaurant, Gone to sleep as Tomorrow was long journey back along with covering extra 60 kms to visit Manikaran sahib ji Gurudwara & Shankar Temple situated side by side. Next morning had early breakfast & started our back journey to Chandigarh via Manikaran Sahib. Overall it was a good Adventurous Cum Religious trip.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: I travelled from Delhi - Chandigarh by morning Shatabadi Train separture at 7.40. Reached Chandigarh at 11.15 in the morning & started our onward journey to Manali in Pre- booked Cab. It Is 10 hours long journey covering distance of 310 km. in between 2-3 stoppages for lunch , tea, refreshments etc... Reached Manali hotel at 9.30 in night & transferred to our rooms within 10 minutes of our arrival. The manager himself was waiting on the reception for our arrival , he often queried about our arrival time while we were on our way to Manali. After refreshing ourselves ,had light dinner in hotel restaurant & straight away hit the bed as it was 10.30 already & we had to get up at 3'o clock early morning to go to Rohtang Pass. The precautions one should take while travelling to & in Manali is , first travel light stomach , dont gulp heavy fried dishes before & during the journey. good for you health & others too.Or you may while sick .Carry light woolens while travelling, Beacuse weather in & around Manali can change in no time.It is my personal advise to all the tourists that they should visit this place only if you are physically fit enough to face the rough road & weather conditions.Best time to visit this place is between May - June & if you love to enjoy only snow than October - December. Well that's all for now . Have a happy & safe journey to Manali. It is definitely worth visiting this place at least once in your life time
