A beach resort, Mandarmani, is located in south-west Bengal in India. Situated in the East Midnapore district, the destination is a fast developing seaside resort village. Things to do in Mandarmani

This small town is known for its sea beach along with activities like surfing, ATV rides, jet skiing, banana boat rides etc. The most famous attraction of Mandarmani is the 13 km long motorable Mandarmani Beach. Prior to setting out for a drive on the beach, it is better to find out the timings of high tides as water levels might rise up to the beach level.

The place is also known for its beautiful sunrise and sunset views that can be best enjoyed along the beach. At a distance of 5-6 km from the main beach is The Delta which is ideal for taking a stroll. However, the area is best avoided after dark. Numerous red crabs can be seen on this stretch of the beach.

Food & Shopping in Mandarmani

Since Mandarmani is a beach destination, it is a good place to try some fish and other seafood. Fresh fish and crabs can be bought from the local fishermen. Most resorts serve local Bengali cuisine. Prawns and crabs are the specialties of the region. Apart from the resorts, food is also available at small eateries and shacks on the beach. These mostly sell tea and snacks but food is also available provided orders are placed beforehand. But the price of food available in Mandarmani is on the higher side. For shoppers, there are objects made of different types of sea shells and oysters. These range from jewellery items like necklaces and earrings to decorative objects like wall hangings and mirrors.

Monsoon season in the region commences in the month of June and extends till the month of September, while the winter season stretches from December to February. However, it can be crowded in winter with people from nearby places flocking there for a weekend getaway. The best time to visit Mandarmani is the intermediary months between the monsoon and winter seasons.

"Mandarmani - Place for sea shore adventure." new review

  • 5/7
  • Posted 4 weeks ago
Mandarmani is a great place for an exciting adventurous trip for family as well as students. It's a cheap destination with a lot of adventure sports filled in with. You can get paragliding, hot air balloon, sea surfing all at not more than 2000 per head. It's a great deal if you want a cheap adventures sports. You can have a bonfires at the beach in evening and get a lot of beautiful scenes of sunset over the sea. Weather is a bit cool and windy. Hotels are a lot cheaper.

"Experiencing Mandarmani"

  • 5.5/7
  • Posted 1 month ago
A visit to Mandarmani was long pending given my wife's love for the sea, but my lack of time. But when the opportunity in came we grabbed it, and did not ruin it for a moment. True, the place does not offer many activities to occupy oneself with, one does not need to have an occupation all the time either. Relax and watch the waves, that's what Mandarmani is for. Try to avoid the Sundays, as Jeeps and trucks loaded with picnickers throng the entire length of the beach, unless off course blaring music at no cost to you is all that you came looking for to this place.

"Amazing water sports and authentic local food"

  • 7/7
  • Posted 1 month ago
It was an awesome experience. The beach was clean and less crowded as most of the people visit Digha. This beach was highly underrated. There were resorts and hotels on the sea shore where the water came to the door steps during the high tide. Most of hotels had good amenities. Water activities like paragliding, banana boat ride and jet ski were amazing. The local food was authentic, mainly the sea food. This was my first visit to this place and I recommend this place for friends and family visits.

"Nice beach but a bit muddy"

  • 7/7
  • Posted 1 month ago
Mandarmani is one of the good places to visit in West Bengal. Though some may find the sea not as attractive as that in Digha or Puri, but, according to me the beach there is the best. When we went to our Resort Somudra Bilas by car, my dad was driving the car through the beach and it was an awesome experience. Though the sea water was not as good as it should have been, it was a little muddy. We enjoyed boating in the pool inside our resort. But if one is willing to visit Mandarmani he or she should not be allergic to the smell of dry fish as its smells.

"No shopping marts; local food not recommended"

  • 7/7
  • Posted 2 months ago
It is a less crowded beach. Must visit places are Rose Valley and Mohona. Local food not recommended. Have only hotel food or carry food from home. There is no market available here for shopping. Activities to keep you busy are para-riding and biking. Advice to travellers is that do not go out at night.

"A great weekend getaway place"

  • 6/7
  • Posted 2 months ago
Mandarmani is one of the most attractive beach destination of East India. If well marketed, it can rise to the top tourist spot. It has an excellent opportunity of beach tourism and adventure sports. The beach is wide and it would be fun with all the adventure activities and water sports. What it requires is good approach road and permanent electricity. The place is a must recommended for everyone.

The special thing about Mandarmani beach is that the place is not overcrowded; it is peaceful..The beaches are neat and clean. Privacy is the priority who lives in nuclear families. The place fulfills the demand of privacy. Food is cheaper comparatively.

"Best Beach for Sea Lovers."

  • 6/7
  • Posted 3 months ago
The greatest thing about this beach is that it remains less crowed all the time. Digha is becoming crowded day by day, so Mandarmani is the finest option. The waves are not that high except the high tide hour. The only problem is that during high tides, you won't be able to get out from there and you will need to take a long route which is tremendously bad. Winter is the best time to visit Mandarmani. The sea drives 2 km back and you can relish the beach better. New provisional shops have opened recently. Mandarmani itself is a sensation. Apart from it, the Mohona is a must visit. Where the river meets the sea and it's popular for red crabs. Visit it early in the morning. The sun rise is one of top reasons for photographers to visit it. Here comes the cons, there are very few stores and you need to travel a lot to reach there and purchase something. Though there are street food corners which I would not recommend at all. But you can try their maggi, omelette and bread. You can have a good long walk or jogging. Best place to have bath. Wonder for paparazzi. There are speed boat rides as well.

Visit during the winters. Avoid the high tide period to enter or exit Mandarmani, as the main road gets choked due to the sea water reaching there. Take the local drivers as there are two roads to visit Mandarmani. If you go during the high tide time, you will have to take the bad road which is really uneven and dangerous for non-regional drivers.
