Monpong is a village located in the Darjeeling District. This village lies on the banks of the River Teesta. This place is known for various attractions and the most popular among them is the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to animals such as leopard, jungle cat, elephant, tiger, deer and more. Various species of snakes are also found in this region. The Damdim, Samardanga and Dooars are other popular tourist places.
The Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of around 96 sq. km. This sanctuary is home to elephant, leopard, Indian bison and royal Bengal tiger. Kalimpong is a beautiful hill station that is often visited by tourists, while on a trip to Monpong. It also has many tourist places, amongst which the St. Theresa Church is the most popular. Another prominent place of this hill station is the Neora National Park, which was established in 1986. This park covers an area of around 88 sq. km and is famous for its forests.
