"Nilambur -Nature becalls" new review

Nilambur Experience: This sleepy beautiful 'TEAK' town on the banks of Chaliyar River is at a distance of 70 km from Calicut ,100 km from Ooty (Uddagamandalam),158 kms from Mysore and 40 km from Malappuram town.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Conolly Plot -This preserved plot has the World's oldest planted teak tree. Referred to as Giant Teak.A part of the oldest teak plantation is retained here. It is 2 km from Nilambur Town. The plot was named in memory of H.V.Conolly, the Malabar District Collector during British rule. The longest hanging Bridge in Kerala, across river Chaliyar will take one to the Conolly plot, which is just 300 metres off the Calicut-Nilambur-Ooty State Highway. Nearby there is a confluence of 3 rivers. The Teak Museum, the only one of its kind in India, is maintained by the Kerala Forest Research Institute, giving information about teak, and the forest produce in general. A Bio Resources Park is attached to it. It is situated 4 km from Nilambur. Banglavu Kunnu (Bungalow Hill) at Nilambur is famous for its winding road where ayurvedic herbs are planted on both the sides.Forest Officers Bungalows were located here. Aruvacode Pottery Village is famous for mural works in clay. Adyan Para Waterfalls, is situated 14 km from Nilambur. Virgin unexploited nature settings. However lack of amenities is a real problem. Nedumkayam in the Nilambur reserve forest, is 18 km from Nilambur. This forest region has an Iron bridge, clear waters, tomb of Mr.Dawson (British forest Engineer)and a forest wooden rest house. Nedumkayam has an elephant \'kraal\' where elephants caught from the forests were trained. Huge wooden cages can still be seen, though poaching has been banned. (Permission from forest dept is required to visit Nedumkayam. No public conveyance is available) Few good hotels are available at Nilambur, including star rated ones. Eco shop near Connollys plot sells items for tourists and forest produces.
Activities & things to do: Take the Shoranur-Nilambur Passenger and reach Nilambur by 8.45 am and start your day after booking into a hotel. If you can hire a taxi from the town and visit these places and get back by the last train at 7.30 pm,it is also fine.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Nearest Airport - Calicut International Airport - 45 km. Nearest Railway station - Nilambur Road Railway Station - 4 km. (Terminus for the Nilambur - Shoranur Railway Line (66 km) 6 pair of Passenger trains run from Shoranur to Nilambur.(Running time 110 minutes) The town is situated on the Calicut - Ooty State Highway with good connectivity.KSRTC Bus station Venturing into waters at Adyan Para waterfalls is dangerous.Rocks are slippery. No security measures are available. River Chaliyar has undercurrents which is dangerous.

"Nilambur" new review

Nilambur Experience: one of the most attractive destination around Nilambur is Adyanpara waterfalls. Adyanpara Waterfalls is situated in the Kurumbalangode village of Nilambur taluk of Kerala. Just 13 KM away from the Ootty Nilambur state highway. This picturesque waterfalls is surrounded by lush green forest all around. An ideal base for picnic. Everyone will surely get amazed by the natural environs and the music of water falls. A waterfall which is attractive even in dry summer. Offers lot of activities for tourists. an average of 3000 visitors reach this beautiful tourism destination every month! sounds unbelievable? but its true. This picturesque waterfall is almost surrounded by forest area, which give this location a unique competitive advantage. an unexplored hot spot which is ideal for camping and forest trekking.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: unfortunately no good resorts, hotels available near the waterfalls. A tourism facilitation center is under construction by Kerala tourism department. a stall run by the local women group near the waterfall can provide soft drinks, tea and snacks.
Activities & things to do: Adyanpara is a popular picnic spot of Nilambur. with a tumbling cataract amid hilly jungles.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Train - Catch the Nilambur - shornur, passenger train which commute 5 times a day between Nilmabur and Shoranur junction. All major cities including Delhi Mumbai and Bangalore are connected by direct trains to shornur. take an auto from Nilambur to reach the destination. Keep swimming trunks and wash towels with you. A packet of food will help you spent more time around the waterfalls and forest. Air: Calicut ( Kozhikode -(CCJ)) international Airport - 53 Km away. You can push off towards ootty or Mudumala by evening. Bus: Nilambur bus station
