Last month I went to Ooty with family. Very disappointed to visit there. Nothing to admire. There was nothing to see except tea gardens and chocolate shops. Food was also not good. Can eat only south Indian dishes, which north Indian cannot enjoy for more than two days.

"Mesmerizing place to visit" new review

  • 6.5/7
  • Posted 3 weeks ago
The roads to Ooty from Bangalore is quite good with stunning views passing through Bandipur and Madumalai National Parks. One can spot numerous deers, peacocks and monkeys on the way. The hill station is quite enchanting with beautiful valley views and clouds covering the mountains. Tea gardens are a treat to watch and the gardens are very beautiful, clean and well maintained. Light woollen clothing is required as temperature is cool under 20 degrees June onwards. Recommended visits being Dodabetta Peak, Ooty Lake, Rose garden, Sims Park, Heritage railway to Conoor, Pykara Lake, Emerald Lake, Botanical Garden.

"People still haven't seen full of it ..." new review

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted 4 weeks ago
Am writing for the 2nd tym now about Ooty because I have seen sooo many people sayin Ooty is overrated, Ooty is not good. Kodaikanal is better etc ... But according to me these people say soo because they haven't seen in fully. I also though Ooty is overrated until I covered Ooty completely. To be honest its takes 5 days to see Ooty completely. As all of you kno ooty's main destination like botanical garden rose garden Ooty lake etc am not goin to say about all those But about other places you need to be at ... My favorite place was conoor which is just 15-20 km away from Ooty is a fabulously beautiful place unexplored partially coonoors sims park is average But lambs rock s walk through nature with beaund breathtaking views and thats a must vusut then comes dolphins nose which is absolutely beautiful view and the waterfall s percect ... There are soo many secrets hiddens at these places and if you hire a guide he will tell you everything and you can go for the local knowledge tooo ... Coonoor has great tea gardens and beautiful tea shops and don't to sip a cup of tea on the way back from dolphins nose
Next I would like to say is about avalanche ... Its a reserved forest area 30+ kms away from Ooty the road is treacherous But its nice to be away from the crowd once you reach thr you can book for a sumo to take you for the tour and it's a 2 hr tour through the forest with 2 beautifuls views a small waterfall and then a temple and the magnificent and beautiful avalanche lake at the end ... Its one of the best views ever and the road s absolutely beautiful ... In my opinion exploring this area after the monsoons will be the best ...
The other place I have to say about is kothagiri ... Which is 10+ kms from Ooty is beautiful village and less crowded and have beautiful views tea garden and a heavenly feeling
And lastly I have to say about is the nilgiri mountain railway ... I would suggest you to take the train from mettupalayam to Ooty which has more scenic views tunnels and bridges ... It takes about 5 hrs slow ride ... If you are a borin person don't go ... Its a slow ride ... Those who wanna relax and enjoy the beauty only get in ... And moreover you might to stabd 5-6 hrs to get the during season times
Soo kudos :)

"Good place"

Basically it's a place to enjoy natural beauty. It has lakes like pykara, emerald & Ooty. There are three commercial travel routes for sightseeing. One known as filmy chakkar comprises of shooting sites of famous movies & pykara lake. One route is of nearby places. One route has pykara plus sanctuary. Altogether only the filmy chakkar seems to be worth visiting as a package. The botanical garden, rose garden, museum, stone house, Ooty lake & thread garden can be easily covered by taking auto & little walks. The botanical garden has govt shop for selling green tea, various oils & spices so better refrain from buying these in local market or the places bus driver takes you in.

"Awesome nature"

Awesome climate and very relaxing place. Everyone must go there with intention of relaxing rather than hurrying to cover Botanical Garden or Rose Garden or anything else. It's the beauty of nature that makes things looks better to our eyes.

I suggest an open resort than a closed hotel rooms in this weather.
