With the right climate and right place you can enjoy this place. Should warn you that the city has lost its charm to commercialisation a lot. But if you can forget the crowd and ignore the suicide point and just take a trek and drive to explore the roads and sit with hot cocoa in the evenings in a good enough resort - this still can serve as a getaway. Ooty is visited by one and all in the south of India .. And the city has kind of shrink now with the extent of population and commercialisation. Don't waste time with the shopping and bargaining. Explore the place and try and enjoy the good resorts around.

One should visit the Ooty once in life. Take local tour bus for to see Ooty. Toy train is not included in that. You need at least 2 days to check out all things in Ooty. Nice weather. Good food place in market yard or mall road. We have pizza hut and other food joint also.

One of the coolest place in south India. Spend atleast 2 nights in this heaven. Don't miss the Dinosaur Park. One of the best enjoyment place for children as well as elders in Ooty. This is the place if you want to relax and regain your energy. The best place to stay in Ooty is without any doubt accord highland hotel. They have superb activity room along with superb people. Their food is something which you will be remembering for ever. They have really set benchmark in the terms of hospitality.

"The Southern Hill Station" new review

  • 6.0/7

Ooty is a place .. Which is very much hyped about .. People who have visited the Himalayas;u might find this hill station a bit underwhelming .. Obviously because there are no snow capped peaks to welcome you.
However what it lacks in white is made up in green ... The lush green tea fields of nearby coonor the lake the world heritage toy train and a very carefully maintained botanical garden all more than make up for it.

"Winter destination"

  • 5.0/7

This is a great destination for people who love cold weathers especially this time of the year( Christmas) perfect balance of sunny and cold, be aware that it's an excessively crowded place as well. Although I was excited about the train in the nilgiris, it was by far the most disappointing ride. The parks were all wonderfully maintained and the highlight of Ooty. Dodabetta peak has one of the most breathtaking views, but too commercialised.

Great destination. Lots of places for sightseeing as well. But the weather becomes way too cold during the winter time! We saw places like Dolphin's Nose, Lambs Rock and Dodabetta peak. You should visit Doddabetta at around 5:30 pm or 6 pm. We also went to Sims park and Rose Garden. The nature is beautiful to see in this area.
