"Oasis in the desert of heat." new review

An absolutely amazing place. Its scenic beauty is beyond words could express. Unforgettable experience of pristine nature and cozy ambience, with scenes straight out of Switzerland. I guess one should visit this place atleast once in a lifetime. But please do not book hotel rooms online as they could be grossly misleading in terms of quality of services and the maintenance of the hotel.

"An ideal place to visit in summer with family" new review

Had an excellent drive with brand new Vitara brezza (ZDi+) as a family. The journey was highly comfortable and easy. Climate was enjoyable and seen couple of rains on those two days of our visit. Enough places to see around and relax. Lot of eateries with varieties. Overall, had a great and memorable time that we will cherish!

"Definitely something you need to visit at least once" new review

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted 3 weeks ago
It's definitely one of the best hill stations down south. Located not very far from Mysore or even Bangalore, the journey to this place is beautiful. You have to drive through the Bandipur Forest to reach the foothills of this hill station and from there you climb the Hill to reach Ooty.

One of the sad things about this place is that it is become very commercialised due to the number of people visiting here, nevertheless it still is a beautiful place. The ideal time to visit would be start of summer or even during summer, the city remains cool throughout the year.

Activities to do here include a visit to the botanical gardens, there is even a train ride you can enjoy here at the gardens and the place is so huge that you can keep roaming the whole day and take in all the varieties of plant life. You have the lake where you can go boating. You can go sightseeing to take in some picturesque views from top of the hills.

Ooty chocolates are pretty popular too, these are home made chocolates and they are really good despite being home made. Food around town is pretty good too.

A nice place where a lot of couples go on their honeymoon. Beautiful views, good food and places to shop in make this an ideal tourist destination. Definitely something you need to visit at least once.

Do not forget to take your camera as the place offers some great vantage points and great opportunity to dabble in light.

"Nice place for summer holidays" new review

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted 4 weeks ago
Ooty is located around 306 KMs from Bangalore and and it has lot of natural beauty to surprise you.

This place is surrounded by many nice spots for picnic and outing. Best part is that you can stay here based on your budget, you can get accommodation based on your pocket and travelling around or sightseeing is not that heavy on pockets.

About food, you will get lot of options to choose from at different price range and of different qualities.

While you are in Ooty, you should go to Botanical Garden, Rose Garden, Lake/Boat House, Train ride from Ooty to Coonoor. You will find Govt buses plying to these places at very small intervals so if you want you can also use bus service.

People are very good, make sure you bargain at every stage.

Golden Rule which I follow, Start Early and Reach Early.

"One of the best experiences" new review

Ooty is a place to visit if you have a craving to go to mountains and seek adventure along with serenity. One of the best experiences I would say. Stayed at hotel residency which was on the top of the hill and had one of the best views from the balcony. Do visit the place.

"Great place for a relaxed holiday"

Nice climate - pleasantly cool even during summer; stay for at least 4 days; avoid week-ends as it gets too crowded. Buy local spices, green organic tea, and maybe some homemade chocolates. Travel lazily - and if you want to mingle with locals, take buses rather than taxi. Beat the crowds by taking a pre-summer visit, or better, during monsoon.

"Beat the heat"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted 1 month ago
A nice retreat to beat the heat. Beware of traffic snarls in the city during long weekends.

If you are not in the mood to visit the Botanical gardens, Lake or anything in the city I don't think traffic would be a major issue.

The maximum temperature hovered around 23C.
