"Crescent-shaped paradise"

Palolem Experience: Palolem is one of the prettiest, crescent-shaped beaches in South Goa. The beach is dotted with pretty shack hotels that you can stay in. The price range is pretty good and sure to suit every budget.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Most of the good restaurants are grouped in one place. The not-to-be missed ones are Smuggler's Inn, Casa Fiesta, Cuba, and Cocktails and Dreams, which is bang on the beach. There's some shopping to be had around these restaurants - clothes, silver jewelry. Bargaining everywhere is a good idea.
Activities & things to do: You can either lounge around on the beach itself or hire bikes and travel around. Not to be missed are the beautiful sunsets and sunrises on Palolem beach. You can hire bikes and go to the Cabo de Rama fort in Agonda. Though the fort is completely in ruins, you get the most amazing view of the sea! And the drive to the fort is also simply breathtaking! You can also stop off at Agonda beach and Patnem beach.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: We had traveled from Bangalore by bus. You have to get off at Canacona and can take an auto to Palolem.

"Dive, Dine and Drink on it!!!"

Palolem Experience: Situated in South Goa, it’s one of the most beautiful as well as happening beaches of Goa. Palolem is known for its serene beauty and neatness. It is a semi circled beach with coconut grooves and you also find a small island placed perfectly to make it quainter. Getting there is also not difficult as you can hire a bus till Canacona bus stand and take an auto to reach Palolem Beach. The auto drivers are very friendly. You can rent beach huts and stay on the beach. The food and atmosphere set by all the resorts are awesome.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: You will find the food overpriced but it is worth it. They provide all sorts of food (Chinese, Goan, continental, Mexican and Lebanese) and breakfast. You can order cocktails or beer and enjoy it while sitting on the beach facing Restaurants. The staffs are very friendly but they seem to favor westerners more than Indians.
Activities & things to do: There are some places which provide silent dance parties, where music is plugged in your ears and you can dance. There are many masseurs and yoga trainers but it’s better to stay away from them as they are not trained. You can get yourself tattooed in nearby market but the price is quite high. The boats on the beach will take you for an errand of penguin watch. You can also rent a kayak and visit nearby island. If you wake up early, you can go for boating in the back waters.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: You can hire a bike and visit nearby Agonda beach and churches. Riding in a bike is a totally different experience in Goa. Do it to know it. None the less, you can jump in the sea anytime you wish.

"Palolem - Paradise on Earth.."

Palolem Experience: Going to palolem in the month of February is amazing experience.... Its cozy yet fun... A walk on the sea shore takes hardly an hour.. But feels like a beautiful lifetime.. Staying in beach shack was a different yet exiting.. Cheers to an amazing holiday destination!
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Big Fish is nice place to stay on beach shacks...
Activities & things to do: Strolling on the beach for hours... Rafting... Barbeque... Listening to the sound of the sea waves And long endless chats....
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Take a train till madhgaon.. And then hire a bike and take the road.. Its takes 2 hrs to reach here. The road passes through some narrow patches so better be confident about riding a bike.

"Palolem: The Best Beach in Goa"

Palolem Experience: Palolem certainly is the best beach in Goa. Although we spent only a few hours we enjoyed and admired the beauty of the place so much that we have planned our next trip to Goa to be in and around palolem. The bike ride that we took from Colva to Palolem showed us some really mesmerizing views of rural goa. The roads leading to Palolem from Colva involved non-dangerous but adventurous Ghats. I'd recommend that if you do happen to take up the ROAD trip on a bike to or fro Palolem-Colva, do take the inside roads rather than taking the National Highway 17.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: As you enter Palolem, the road that takes you to the beach has many shops selling local commodities food, clothes etc.
Activities & things to do: Relax and enjoy the waves. Beach is considered to be safe for swimming despite large waves. The beach shacks provide you with local goan sea food and have good variety of options for vegetarians too. A boat ride from Palolem beach can take you to the nearby island which is really picturesque and beautiful.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Try the beach huts. Although we haven't but whatever we saw of the beach huts looked good....

"Perfect for relaxation"

Palolem Experience: Unlike the north Goa beaches Palolem is very serene and clean beach. You can relax undisturbed.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Goan food - xacuti is a speciality in this area. All kinds of international food joints are there in the area. Jacket potatoes was a unique dish served out of the barbeque in many sea facing restaurants.
Activities & things to do: Kayaking. Rent a kayak at approx. 100 rupees per hour. Silent noise - the discotheuque where you dance to music from your headphones. Dolphin trip - although not so much fun, but you may want to try your luck at spotting a dolphin.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: It takes approx. INR 600 by taxi to reach Palolem beach from Madgaon station. Pick a hotel which is beach facing, dont spend too much for the hotel because you wud end up sleeping there only at night, since the day is spent in the sand, water and shacks.

"Palolem - The Quiet sea"

Palolem Experience: I have often visited Goa, but this was the first time that I went to its Southern shores. Normally, I have stayed around Baga, Anjuna or Sinquerim. But the rising popularity of Palolem is becoming too conspicuous to ignore. Hence this time, I decided to be at Palolem. It was a plan made at short notice, and yet with some crookedness we arranged for the train tickets. We booked ourselves in the Palolem Beach Resort, which was a decent place to stay, especially given the room charges of 800 rs a night. We spent most of the days at sea enjoying the waves, though Palolem is a relatively quiet beach. Typical of favorite Goa beaches, it is lined with shacks and diners and sunbeds. A feature which a few shacks have added is a bamboo terrace, which can be climbed up to enjoy the view. We spent most of our evenings on this terrace – a nice place to sleep/read/eat in peace while still enjoying the sea.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We tried a few places to eat at Palolem, the primary being Druv's kitchen which is the restaurant of Palolem Beach Resort where we stayed. They had great breakfast options which were well prepared. Dropadi was our favorite for food, and we had most of our dinners there once we discovered it. Hare Rama Hare Krishna - definitely something you should skip!
Activities & things to do: Palolem is a typical beach haven - you can enjoy swimming in the sea or sunbathing, or reading. Body surfing or surfing is difficult because the sea is very quiet. The sunsets are beautiful. One evening, we took a boat to the Butterfly island, where we enjoyed two hours of the secluded beach, playing ball in water. At 6, the boat came back to pick us, and took us to the middle of the ocean from where we could get a nice view of the sunset. A beautiful evening, one that made it even harder to get back to Mumbai. There are a lot of pubs and also some dance parties at Palolem including the famous headphone parties.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Palolem is 40 kms or 6.00 rs ride away from Margao train station. It is closer from the airport (25 km). If you are planning to do water sports, Palolem may not be the right place, but you can travel 20 kms to Colva for enjoying those parasails and speedboats.

"Palolem Beach"

Palolem Experience: Situated in Canacona, South Goa. This is 'the' beach to go to. Unspoilt, yet with many facilities and well developed; Palolem beach is a one a kind place for people on relaxed mindset holidays. The beach looks like a bay with two islands, white sand and blue water. And right behind you the lush green palm trees! Wow! Another good thing about South Goa is that unlike North Goa you can wear a two piece bikini or even a thong without hearing people whistling or staring you down. The reason for that is simple. The rowdy Bombay people barely come there and if they do, it's in small numbers, and in small numbers they lose their ability to tease girls or to act stupid because they get scared to face the consequences. Plus there are no night clubs, and those people need to get wasted off alcohol all night to feel like heroes! So it's definitely not their spot.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: When it comes down to food; you have many choices, however I recommend only 3 places: 1.) Dropadi, right when you enter the beach on your left. Dishes to be tried would be: Lobster thermidor, Grilled Lobster in butter garlic sauce, Asparagus and Crab Meat soup, Seafood Platter. A very clean place, excellent service, nice setting. 2.)Magic Italy: Owned by an Italian couple who settled there, they serve very very decent italian food. The atmosphere is suited for a relaxed evening, wooden tables, low sitting, candle lights, good selection of wines, not wide but very decent selection of italian salames. Pizza's are baked in a traditional wood fired oven. Recomend: Piatto di Salame with cheeses. 3.) Smuggler's Inn: For good ground beef burgers and steaks. Late night: You can chill at Cafe del Mar or Cocktails and Dreams and enjoy a liqueur feeling the gentle seabreeze over your face. Shopping: Whatever costs 350 Rs. can be brought down to a 100 Rs. Or max 120 Rs.
Activities & things to do: Dolphin watching: Go only around 5:30 or 6 pm, because the people there will try to take you for trips all day and waste your money, dolphins only come out and jump out of the water in late afternoons from personal experience. Swimming in clean water!! Wave jumping, visit to butterfly and honeymoon beach on the neighbouring islands. And after a long day, a cup of darjeeling tea and a sandwich at dropadi before going back to the hotel to freshen up for a nice evening and dinner.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Ok.. you can reach by train or road or flight. There are numerous coco huts out there right on the beach, but bring thick comforters as in the early hours of the morning and late in the night it gets very very very cold. And you don't want to wake up with a cold! The coco huts have no hot water for shower. The bedding is of very poor quality and low maintenance, some people even got skin rashes because sheets were not properly washed. I would advise you bring your own sheets and give them to a private laundry service to be safe. OR you can stay at a place called Palolem Guest House or Palolem Beach Resort, a bit more expensive but with hot water and proper maintenance. Most people who stayed in coco huts had an uneventful stay though, I'm just saying better be safe! Breakfast at intercontinental 'sucks'!!

"Beautiful Palolem"

Palolem Experience: Palolem is a very scenic beach which offers low budget beach huts & has plenty of food choices. An ideal place to spend a relaxing holiday.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: In Season (i.e. from October End till May) there are plenty of beach shacks which serve variety of food & drinks. These are the best places to have your food enjoying the sea view. Apart from this there are restaurants on the main road which serve all type of food from Italian to Mexican to Punjabi food. However we found there is shortage of South Indian food. Jain food is available at selected places only. There is a Baskins Robins Ice cream outlet just near the main entrance to the beach which we used to frequently visit. There are bookshops which lend you books (mainly fiction). Plenty of shops are there which offer traditional Indian items, but remember to bargain. Do check out the Cabo De Rama Fort for some amazing views. It’s around 20 – 30 mins. Drive from Palolem. If you have time you can easily spend 3 – 4 hrs. at the place. There is an old church on the fort. One can also visit Agonda beach which is quite laid back & has fewer stay options hence less tourists.
Activities & things to do: Palolem beach is very safe for swimming. Carry a Float with you (or else buy from shops on the main road) & you can laze in the water for any no. of hrs. Sunset at Palolem is one the best we have seen. You can visit Butterfly beach & Honeymoon beach by hiring a fishing boat. There are chances of sighting a dolphin while on this trip. There are snorkeling tours offered by some operators. Check out the backwaters on the North end of the beach by hiring a boat which is good for birding. Early morning or late evenings will be the best time to visit these backwaters. There are no water sports offered in Palolem except Kayaking. Two seater & One seater Kayaks are available & is worth trying.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: How to Reach: Palolem is connected to Madgaon by regular buses. The buses leave from Madgaon’s new bus stand. From Madgaon station pre paid taxis are available which drop you at Palolem for Rs. 700. Rickshaws are the best mode of conveyance once you are in Palolem or else hire a bike or scooter. Travel Tips: Stay at one of the many beach huts, which are operational from October End to May. Plenty of options are available from budget to high end huts. If you are not travelling in Peak season i.e. December & January then check out the huts for yourself & decide which one is best suitable to your taste.

"Best beach of goa if someone wants to enjoy only"

Palolem Experience: If someone has been to Goa before and just wants to enjoy at the sea beach then Palolem is the ideal one. clean beach, coconut trees, blue sea and staying at the beach huts is all memorable experience.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: I stayed at the hightide beach huts.one gets a good view of the sea and good north indian food here. seafood however is not cheap at Palolem.
Activities & things to do: Boat trip to watch dolphins in the sea is really a memorable experience.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: If you want to make trips to north & south Goa then do it before you settle in Palolem because it is quite far off.

"In the lap of Nature in Palolem."

Palolem Experience: Great view of the sea, almost like a private beach. Dense palm trees, opulent greenery. It's warm, but the breeze luxuriously fans you to sleep. It's cheaper and better looking than North Goa and certainly offers more authentic 'home' cooked food. There are 'backwater' trips by canoe-like boats reminding one of Kerala.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Small restaurants cum bars and small family run eateries dot the place, which give home-cooked meals at reasonable rates. For those who miss their Punjabi/European fare, there are a couple of 'shacks' close to the beach, which are crowded all the time. This is the place for nature lovers. Carry binoculars, sun tan lotion, swim wear, books, and be prepared to sleep, sleep, sleep. You could buy silk scarves, shell curios, silverware, and throwaway cotton clothes from the stalls that line the lanes to the beach.
Activities & things to do: Adventurous? Go scuba diving, though you'd have to go to Panaji or Mobor for that. Couple it with para sailing. Want to gamble, go north to the luxury off shore casino. Visit a spice farm, check out a trip to an ancestral home or an art exhibition.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Palolem is way south, an hour and a quarter away from the airport at Dabolim, Vasco, and about twenty minutes away from the nearest station, Canacona. The buses from Madgao stop a few metres away from the beach and are quite convenient, though uncomfortable. Carry insect repellent, and drink only branded bottled water. Be careful with the wallets and cameras for petty thieves are on the prowl at all times.
