Panjim or Panaji is the capital city of Goa and is the headquarters of the North Goa district. Although Panjim is famous for its beaches, it has a rich history. For centuries, it was a major trade city and flourished through the sea routes. Panjim was a part of the Kingdom of Sawantwadi before being conquered by the Portuguese who dubbed it ‘Nova Goa’.
