Pantnagar is situated in Udham Singh Nagar District of Uttarakhand and is a small town and a university campus. Pantnagar is surrounded by prominent cities such as Kiccha, Haldwani, Nainital and Rudrapur.
The town was a part of the state of Uttar Pradesh before November 2000; however, it later became part of Uttarakhand. It is known for the number of universities, among which the first agricultural university of India was established on 17th November, 1960 in Pantnagar. Besides, various integrated industrial estates make it a commercial centre as well.
Tourists visiting Pantnagar can explore its culture in the fairs that are organised during Navratri in the months of March and April. Chaiti Fair and Ataria Fair are celebrated with enthusiasm at Chaiti Temple and Ataria Temple respectively.
Kiccha, Rudrapur, Fulsungi and Bhurarani are also popular places near Pantnagar. Some of the popular sightseeing attractions in the vicinity of the destination are Corbett National Park and Govind Wildlife Sanctuary which are ideal for birdwatching and exploring wildlife.
Travellers can reach Pantnagar through flights, trains and buses. Pantnagar Airport serves the region which is connected by regular flights from Delhi. The railhead closest to the destination is the Pantnagar Railway Station that is well connected to various cities of the country. Regular buses from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are available to Pantnagar.

Sightseeing in Pantnagar consists mostly of hill stations and national parks. The nearby Nainital, one of the most well known hill stations of India, is located at an altitude of 1938 m above the seal level. Nainital is popularly known as the Lake District of Uttarakhand and is named after Goddess Naina Devi.
Corbett National Park, located in Pantnagar, is popular as a habitat for rare species of wild animals, especially tigers. This wildlife reserve is said to be one of the nine reserves established as a part of Project Tiger, which was launched in the year 1973. Another wildlife reserve located in the region is the Govind National Park, which is situated amidst dense forest cover consisting of many medicinal plants used for the production of life saving drugs. The sanctuary is a natural habitat to several rare animals, notably the Snow Leopard.
The city of Haldwani, located near Pantnagar, is said to be the most populous city of Uttarakhand and also considered as the Gateway to the Kumaon region. The city of Rudrapur is located in the Udham Singh Nagar of Uttarakhand and is also one of the most fertile regions of India. The region of Rudrapur consists of people mostly of Punjabi origin, which is why it is also known as Mini Punjab.
