Pantnagar Experience: Pant Nagar, on its own is a sleepy industrial town of uttaranchal. Being the district HQ of Udham Singh nagar, semblance of modernity is visible with nice apartments coming up; good hotels - Radisson/Ark/Ginger etc mixed with the old shagginess of familiar Indian towns. Good as a stop over before moving on for hill stations like Nainital/Kath Godam etc.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Nothing much that I could find in my short stay one needed to be there for at least a day.
Activities & things to do: Not much I could do, as I was on a very brief mission. Will surely make it again, being at the foot hills the climate should be salubrious I am not sure!!
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: I went during winters beware of the early fog setting in, hence reach early. From Noida to Rampur was a good drive. But the completion of the road stretch taking years was a surprise and a disappointment. From Rampur to Rudrapur was a journey better avoided. Small cars will have the chassis striking the pot holes with alarming regularity. You cannot drive the 50 odd kilometers without regular hiccups, your legs straining with clutch operations; sugar cane tractors frolicking with front tires up!! Bilaspur (between Rampur and Rudrapur) was miserable with virtually no roads, trucks with industrial loads struggling to keep the limping economy moving.
It was a sad commentary on the type of administration we have and the way we facilitate our industry.
