Poovar Experience: Best place for having peace of mind as well as fun. we must visit at least once in a lifetime. Nice atmosphere in Nov Dec.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: food was good. Site seen is too costly, we dropped it. Because 80% locations we seen while we went to hotel.

Poovar Experience: Poovar is just 1 town 60 km from my town tirunelveli which is 75km from kanyakumari. It comes in the high way from nagerkoil to trivadrum, in the kovalam road.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We had dinner in High Way family restaurant which is literally run by a family, We really enjoyed the food served with real family touch.

Activities & things to do: You can play in the water. You will enjoy the beautiful clean beach. While you are in the cruise you may order for your lunch in one of the floating restaurant. By the time of your return your food will be ready.Sitting on the floating plateform, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the sea and eat.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: For all, who go from Tamilnadu, it is good that you plan to spend some time in cape.On your way you may visit Padmanaban Palace.You have to take a diversion in Kalyakavilai and take the road to Kovalam. Poovar comes about 18km before Kovalam. For others taking Trivandrum is the best way. By air or train, come to Trivandrum and take the Kovalam road.

Poovar Experience: Nice place calm and away from crowded place hardly 2 hours drive from here to kanyakumari and half an hour drive to Kovalam Beach.

Poovar Experience: This is a destination near from Thiruvanantpurm. The backwater is thru jungle area. We can travel with hired boat for an hour or two.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We can watch different types of birds. Golden sand beach is really nice beach.

Activities & things to do: The journey by boat thru jungle itself is nice experience.

Poovar Experience: Situated on the eastern coast of indian peninsula in the state of Kerela is this beautiful land called Poovar

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Isolo Di coco is an ayurvedic resort in line to the beach. It faces the beach directly.Good for beach-view and also for ayurvedic treatments and massages.

Activities & things to do: silent, not crowded yet a beautiful place to relax. One can take a ferry ride there. There are also floating cottages if one wants to choose. Also few floating restaurants. Must do-early morning visit to the beach will make sure you dont miss out on noticing the sea animals there-jelly fishes etc.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Travel to Trivadrum by train and then take a car and enjoy the scenic beauty. Warnings-Ferry riders try to charge more money.(dont pay them)

Poovar Experience: Most breath taking view staying in a boat house, got to see it to beleive it, good food excellent service no wonder it is called Gods own country and good food too, only problem was the fish smell.

Poovar Experience: Very Nice and Superb Silent Place.We went in a boat with all the luggages approximately and reached our Estuary island Resort in 15minutes.The route was so sexy. There were Coconut trees Everywhere in our Route.This is a one of the Best Place in Indi and i loved it so much.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food are Superb and unbelievable some Food collection you are not going other sight-seeing bcoz this resort are also sight -seeing in front of totally Sea Sea Sea.

Poovar Experience: Poovar is located about 45 minutes from Trivandrum and is easily accessible by Bus or taxi .Your resort hotel will then take you by private launch to the hotel.Poovar is still unspoiled,clean and not at all overcrowded. The beach is clean and sunrise/sunset views are spectacular.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Can't say about the food in the village ( since we had it at our resort and which was excellent ) or about shopping in the village. But you can easily make Day trips on separate days to Trivandrum/Kanyakumari or the beautiful Ponmudi Hills.You can also,if inclined, make visits to the Neyyar Dam and the Tripparappu Waterfalls. For Kerala handicrafts,coir items,bags,crunchy banana wafers and spices - do your shopping in the local Trivandrum markets ( ask locals where they buy such items )

Activities & things to do: Just relax on the beach or take country boat or motor-boat rides on the lush green backwaters. Play Beach Volleyball or go cycling and get lost on the serene rustic roads.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Poovar is easily reachable by Bus or Taxi from the capital city of Kerala,Trivandrum,taking about 45 minutes and passing through quaint villages with greenery all around.Resorts provide their own motor boats for reaching your chosen one and for trips on water. Be adept at warding off urchins demanding money.

Poovar Experience: Its very beautiful.. scenic peaceful and never felt like leaving this place.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We were in Poovar estuary island its was the best in food and sight seeing shopping is expensive.

Poovar Experience: Its a nice serene place for a quiet holiday. Ideal for a couple who wants to spend a peaceful holiday or the honeymooners who just want to be left alone by the sea beach :)

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Nothing much to shop here its all about beach and peace... We enjoyed the food of estuary island resort's open restraunt by the sea.

Activities & things to do: Sunsets and sunrise and walk by the sea is the activity one can enjoy here...One can also have a boat ride in the backwaters, scenic beauty of mangroves is breathtaking !!

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: What we did was that we had prior booking in a resort. The resort people only sent a boat to fetch us from the mainland as poovar is an island so last connecting journey is through backwaters.

Poovar Experience: The place is good,calm and clean air. The poovar island resort looks good but is not maintained clean and tidy.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The food in the resort is not upto the mark and not many varities.It is very expensive also. Nearby sightseeing is Kovallam beach, trivandrum, Naiyaar dam.

Poovar Experience: A little known island in the God's own country of Kerala, this small island is fast becoming a popular tourist destination. And why not! Activities & things to do: This place offers something for everyone - there is no better place to laze around doing nothing. If you want to hustle, there are lots of activities for you - 1. The backwater cruises are something you have to experience for yourself. Get up early in the morning and observe birds on the birdwatching cruise, the first cruise of the day. Later in the afternoon, after a siesta, go for the long and leisurely island cruise, which takes you around the island, and if you still haven't had enough, go for the sunset cruise and end the day on a romantic note, watching the sun set on the horizon, sitting on a fishing boat with your loved one. 2. The beach is just across the estuary, a few minutes away by boat. Spend the mornings and the evenings by the beach, watching the waves hit the shore with full force, or play on the beach for as long as you like. Note:the surf is very forceful on these beaches, and it is unsafe to bathe. If you want to bathe, use the backwaters side of the beach, or look at option 3. 3. Go to Kovalam - Kerala's most famous beach is about half an hour away from the mainland. Spend the day on the beach, playing on the sand and bathing, or take one of the fishing boats and go looking for corals and coloured fishes.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Poovar is about 30 Kms from Trivandrum, which is both, the nearest Airport as well as Railway Station. The nearest town is Poovar Town which is on the mainland. The island is about 2 Kms away, but has to be reached by a 20 minutes boat ride from the Poovar Jetty. Plenty of Kerala Transport buses are available from Trivandrum to Poovar. Cars/Taxis charge about Rs.1000/- for the journey, while autos charge about Rs.250/-. THere are 3 resorts on Poovar Island - 1. The Poovar Island Resort 2. Isola de Coco 3. Estuary Island Resort All the 3 resorts have their own boat services from the Jetty. If you have a reservation at the resort, the boat rides are free. Even if you do not have a reservation, you can go to the resort for a meal or a day trip, and use the boat services to the resort for a fee.

Poovar Experience: One of the most unique destinations, which offers beach on one side and backwaters on the other(in fact most of the resorts are bang ON the backwaters) !!

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Poovar is still less cluttered with the so-called 'free-to-trade bohemian attitude' shops of Kovalam. Poovar tries to tie you onto the real cause of travel - vacation. Since the USP of the place is being surrounded by water, one has to rely on the occassional boat trips if the hunger is for world-cuisine, you know what I mean !?

Activities & things to do: Sun, sun, some water, some more sun, water again and eventually the sunset - if you really want me to pen down activities. Kerala being the way they are, have restricted the best under-water activities (errr..i mean snorkeling, scuba so on and so forth) maybe due to the not-so-clean waters and leaves one to on-the-earth activities on the beach or maybe a nice swinging evening on a hammock!
