A very good hill station, clean and well-maintained. Natural AC weather and pollution free climate. Best place to stay as holiday plan with friends and family during vacation and summer. I am glad to have the opportunity to visit Ravangla with my colleagues. I will try to visit again with my family.

"I love Ravangla - South Sikkim"

  • 7/7
  • Posted May 7, 2014
Most adventures, homely and Romantic holiday destination is Ravangla, South Sikkim. Right time to visit September- November. Trekking attraction Maenum Hill. For shopping - Sunday Local market (in a week) is very attractive. It is a small village. But there is every thing available. Buddha Park, Chardham, Golden temple of Saibaba, Samdruptse temple, Temy Tea garden, Monastery, Borong, cave will attract you a lot. Local Village sightseeing will also make you happy. Ravangla is like a picture. So Photography is a must. Momo, Pork items, Thukpa are some of the delicious foods you must try; delicious Bengali food is also available. Weather is too good - sun, cloud and flowers surround you all the time. Must carry warm cloths, shoes and umbrella. After 7:30 don't venture outside the hotel. From NJP hire a car (Rs 1500 - 2000) for 8 seaters.

"Ideal Dream Setting.."

  • 6/7

Ravangla a small budding town in Sikkim one can say in its teens with loads of potential to be star tourist attraction. Ravangla is easily accessible from NJP station, Bagdogra airport or from Gangtok by car.
Ravangla is peace seekers, Natural beauty connoisseurs and photographers paradise. It can be brilliant destination for Honeymoon and bird watchers also. It has perfect views of Mt.Kanchunjungha and many other mountain peaks. Ravangla has recently come under Sikkim tourism department scanner and efforts to make it a tourist hotspot is easily appreciated, one such example is Buddha park. Other significant places to see in Ravangla are Temi tea garden,Ralang monastery,Borong hotspring and its the starting point for many trek routes as well.
The place still feels like virgin lands and the hotels and its staffs here are still not that commercialised as a result they are very warm, homely and accommodating people. Infact during my visit the place I stayed was owned by a bengali and me also being a bengali I had the luxury of having bengali delicacies there. For me the best way to explore the place is to relax and set your pace with its surroundings, people here are so relaxed and its a very common sight to see local people taking afternoon naps in its lush green meadows untethered by worldly chaos. And its not everyday that you can experience clouds passing between our fingers... it was one of the most intimate escapes I had recently...

This is a romantic place for couples though I went there with my family.. The experience was really splendid. The Choo-zoo lake was in walking distance. Temi tea garden was awesome. And chardham at Namchi is a must see..There is a also a monastery there.. It is famous for the height of the statue of Budhha..
If someone wants to trek then Mainam is there which is around 5hrs walking distance from Ravangla. This is also special place for orchids..
Overall I have a very good experience with Ravangla..

"Peaceful place to relax"

  • 6/7
  • Posted Oct 2, 2013
Ravangla is a very peaceful place where you can spend few days in the lap of nature and relax. We stayed there for 3 days. The place has very unpredictable weather with sun and clouds playing hide and seek. We stayed at Clouds End resort which is approx 3.5 km away from the Ravangla bazaar. Few more resorts are also there. All are having very good view of the mountains and one can spend his whole day enjoying the view.

  • Posted Dec 28, 2010
An excellent destination for any one who wants to be a part of nature and listen to nature.I did not find anything negative about the place but maybe travelers with expectations of comfort might be disappointed.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Sunrise from Mt. Narshin resort is not to be missed, food and shopping are normal nothing extraordinary.

Activities & things to do: Bird watching, trekking, watching frost in the morning, play with snow, bonfire etc

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Roads can give you a headache better carry parasitamal. Climate can change without any warning therrfore, rain-wear and tough shoes are recommend. Aways carry woolens never know the weather will change from sunny to snow.

I have been to Ravangla in Oct, 2008. Probably the best time to visit. A picture perfect peaceful gateway from concrete world we stay in. We had our room booked at Mt. Narshing which is about 3 km from the market Place where you have the main gathering. We selected our room atop a hill, view of Mount Narshing from the top was unforgettable.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The main attraction of the place is the excellent view of the Mountain range. You can visit Namchi from Ravangla and various monasteries near, or just stroll in the hills or trek.

Activities & things to do: Only Trekking.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: You can reach Ravangla from NJP or from Gangtok. Fare one way from New Jalpaiguri should be around Rs.1600 for a hire/private car and almost Rs.1800 from Gangtok.
