"Ravangla"

Ravangla Experience: I have been to Ravangla in Oct, 2008. Probably the best time to visit. A picture perfect peaceful gateway from concrete world we stay in. We had our room booked at Mt. Narshing which is about 3 km from the market Place where you have the main gathering. We selected our room atop a hill, view of Mount Narshing from the top was unforgettable.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The main attraction of the place is the excellent view of the Mountain range. You can visit Namchi from Ravangla and various monasteries near, or just stroll in the hills or trek.
Activities & things to do: Only Trekking.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: You can reach Ravangla from NJP or from Gangtok. Fare one way from New Jalpaiguri should be around Rs.1600 for a hire/private car and almost Rs.1800 from Gangtok.

"a trip to remember"

Ravangla Experience: Being an adventure lover and thirst to explore new destinations brought me to scenic small and beautiful hamlet of South Sikkim lovingly called by locals RABONG and in Official words RAVANGLA.To reach this place you can hire share or reserve taxis from NJP station or Bagdogra Airport. Also you can get share taxis at cheaper rate from SNT depot. In general the reserved taxi will cost you anything between Rs.2300 to Rs.3000.In share basis it will cost you Rs.140 per head. Its an 4 hour journey from Siliguri via Sigtham or Namchi. Situated at 7000ft(2155m) between Maenam and Tendong hills has turned into a natural tourist resort for its magical snow views and tranquility.Surrounded by high forested hills, undulating velleys dotted with village huts Ravangla is an ideal place for short treks and bird watching.Nearby Lepcha and Bhutia villages of Yangang,Tinkitam,Kewzing,Barfung & Bakhim are ideal for short village tours.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Despite being a small place there a re few good hotels and resorts in Ravangla, namely Hotel Chinthang and Restaurant which is the only hotel which serves good food ranging from Sikkimese,Indian & Chinese. This place is frequented by locals ,Foreigners and Indian tourists because of good hospitality and warm food. The rooms are excellently maintained and reasonably ranges from Rs600/ to Rs.1000/.The staffs are quiet friendly and ready to help even in mid-night.For better sight seeing I suggest strongly get in touch with hotel people.
Activities & things to do: With rich natural diversity, the exotic flora and fauna in virgin forests, lofty snow mountains, waterfalls, picturesque tea gardens, quaint villages, hospitable Sikkimese villages, ethnic culture, old monasteries and fresh atmosphere Ravangla is becoming a popular tourism destination. A few very old Monasteries around Ravangla namely Bonn Monastery,Ralong Monastery, old historical market of Kewzing, along with few mysterious caves are some of the major attractions in the area.Samdruptse is also an major attraction for its natural diversity and its 120 ft. bronze statue. It is an ideal place for the people seeking peace and would like to do meditation.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: To reach this place you can hire share or reserve taxis from NJP station or Bagdogra Airport. Also you can get share taxis at cheaper rate from SNT depot. In general the reserved taxi will cost you anything between Rs.2300 to Rs.3000.In share basis it will cost you Rs.140 per head. Its a 4 hour journey from Siliguri via Sigtham or Namchi.
