| Rahul Mumbai | 15th September 2008 Bordi...be aware | | Overview of the destinationHi,
So, after reading and searching all over the internet, i discovered that Bordi could be a good destination for relaxation after a tired week. So, I and my girlfriend, started early morning from Dadar station by Gujrat Express, we got off at Dahanu and took a rick from there to bordi which is easily available from Dahanu. When we were approaching Bordi the picturesque sea line was there to welcome us. We stopped the rick at MTDC resort ( which i heard was the best and cheapest option there.) But the reply was no room was vacant. A lie. All the room were vacant. There was not a single soul at the resort, I asked few locals and they told me the real story. These MTDC resort people have a commission tie up with a Hotel which is just in front of the MTDC resort. Being a government resort they dont worry at all about the tourist. They only look for money. Anyways we walked ahead and stayed at the Goolkhush resort. A old and friendly parsi couple runs the resort. The rooms were decent and quite okay.
But the food was excellent. A very homely food, though little expensive but yes worth the money. So far so good. But what about the real thing, the only place to enjoy here is the beach. The beach looks good but my god, the beach is really dirty. Being said the sleepy town and cool place, to tensions and all that stuff, but the real thing which is the beach itself is so dirty that you dont want to step a foot in to it. The place is full of man shit and you have to be aware of it while walking. These bloody villagers have no respect for the mother nature. So my dear friends, go to bordi only if you want to stay in a room or resort and relax with your partner. but really forget the beach. there is nothing else to do Food, sight-seeing and shopping The food was too good. There are other resorts and hotels which too offer good food. Activities & things to do Nothing Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Take gujarat express early in the morning and reach dahanu. Otherwise, you can take a Virar local and from Virar you get a passenger train every 1-2 hours. You can also get down at Gholvad station, check out the trains which stops there. You can take a rick from both places. We came back from Gholvad waking up early in morning and came by Valsad passenger at 6.00 am. We were at dadar by 9. | | | Benu Mumbai | 21st July 2006 Best chaat in Thane | | Overview of the destinationThis place has a fantastic long beach with casurina trees and the sea is shallow and safe. Food, sight-seeing and shopping This little village can boast of Shivkumar's Panipuri where the chaat is all very freshly made and really tasty!
The best wadis are also available here unlike the big batatavadas of Mumbai these are small, spicy and fantastic to eat. They are made of a special 'masala' that all the shops selling the wadis know and they are hot and crisp and best eaten with a small pav which is alo supplied by these sellers.
If you want dessert after the wadis and chaat buy the local chickoos, or lithchis (if you are there in May) and enjoy. Activities & things to do The beach is always there and one can commune with nature and just chill out and relax Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. About 100 kms from Mumbai you can drive up as well as take a train on the Western Railway to Gholvad which is the station that you have to reach and is also suitable for a day trip | | |
