| rally Delhi | 23rd February 2007 a qaint hill station | | Overview of the destinationIt is a beautiful, serene and a green hill station. There is natural beauty in abundance. But the best part of this place that it has the old world charm completely retained, probabaly the way britishers left it. One can go for long walks and enjoy the scenic beauty, the tall deodar trees, and the snow clad mountains are feast for your eyes. Someone who loves wild life and wilderness a visit to kalatope sanctuary is a must. Also do not miss dainkund a military base, the civilians are allowed till a certain point. The walk to the hilltop from that point is breath takingly beautiful. Food, sight-seeing and shopping A walk to subhash baoli is about 1 and a half km from gandhi chowk. Ajit singh samadhi, and not to miss the old n famous experience of a walk on Thandi sadak and Garm sadak. For shopping the hand knitted wollen socks, caps and gloves from the himachal tourism shops. Their local made wollen vests, the peanut chiki from the vendor. Activities & things to do long walks, bird watching and treking to the near by villages. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. take shatabdi express from new delhi to amritsar and hire a taxi for dalhousie which takes about 4-5 hours | | | Suhani Jaipur | 19th May 2006 Dalhousie | | Overview of the destinationDon?t be surprised if you see more of locals around you than tourists in Dalhousie! A small hill station tucked amid the Pir Panjal range in Himachal Pradesh, Dalhousie is a bliss for people who love walking. It offers numerous walkways and authentic feeling of you being a local yourself!Quiet, peaceful and lazy are probably the best descriptions of Dalhousie. Food, sight-seeing and shopping The walkways from Hotel Mount View to Subhash Chowk and further to Gandhi Chowk are the most popular. The walk from Subhash Chowk to Gandhi Chowk is littered with Tibetan graffiti on rock walls. There is a life size statue of Lord Buddha between the two chowks. Frankly, local sightseeing tours are quite a bore. An exception, Khajjiar is rightfully called the mini Switzerland of Himachal Pradesh. The tall Deodar trees around a saucer-shaped meadow make for quite a good view. For food, there is not better option than the restaurant at Hotel Grand View. Chamba is the district headquarters and quite a buzzing marketplace. Activities & things to do Finding new trails and paths is the adventure to live in Dalhousie. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. 80 kms from Pathankot, HPTDC buses are available from Pathankot Bus Stand. Taxis are also available outside the railway station, charging Rs. 900 for a one way trip from Pathankot to Dalhousie. | | |
