Overview of the destination Calangute during monsoon season is a horrible destination as you neither can swim in beach, as the life-guard is always behind to stop you going in the beach, nor can travel with the non stop rain. But still a large number of people come here from all over the globe to enjoy the rain of Goa with a beer. During this time, travellers get heavy discount in hotels and various things due to off seoson.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping Goa is a place of Exotic food where you can get various type of cuisines of prawns, crabs, sharks tuna, squids and lots more. You can visit any nearby beach shack to have fresh and hot food. Goa is famous for its feni and urrac, these are local alcoholic drinks. Feni comes in two flavours - coconut and cashew. Taste of feni is a bit weird but still you must taste it.
Activities & things to do Hire bikes in Goa, they are available in plenty starting from Rs. 200 for Activa, 250 for Pulsar and so on. You can travel to Old Goa and nearby Baga and Anjuna beach with the two wheelers.
Anuna Beach's flea market is a must visit for some good Goan stuff, bargain hard.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. By Air:
Goa is well connected with all the major cities in India. Airport is in Vasco.
By Rail:
There are lots of train to Goa from Delhi. Goa Express, Mangla Lakshdweep Exp., Goa Sampark Kranti Exp. and lots more. Major stations are Madgaon, Vasco, and Thivim. Anyone travelling to Calangute beach should stop at Thivim station and hire taxi outside the station to reach Calangute. There is a pre-paid booth outside the station where you need to pay approx. Rs. 350 to reach Calangute.
Goa is the god of all destinations and anyone can visit anytime in Goa but I would still suggest that Goa is best avoided during the monsoons.
