| Evaluator Mauritius India Seychelle | 7th March 2007 | | The truth about Baga | Overview of the destination Good for the youth and toublesome for the elders.Food, sight-seeing and shopping Food : You may try Hotel Linda's. They serve excellent butter garlic grilled prawns and losbters. While tasting food there you can tell that the Chef is indeed a master of his art as he uses the herbs and spices in the right amounts to provide gourmet taste for the professionals who know what should taste like what. However the cocktails are not that good, you may try Tito's for that. My advice for long party night would be for you to try the Local fenny either cashew or palm, my favorite is palm with redbull. Activities & things to do Attractions : As such I don't find any so special things in baga. I mean its a fun place to hang out with friends or meet new people. For the young crowd I mean. For the older crowd I would suggest more quiet areas in south Goa where the huge five star properties are. The beaches are also way better in southern goa than northern goa.
Shopping : Please watch out. Sometimes cab drivers can take you to shops that they have tie ups with, how ever you may get ripped off. Try avoiding Baga for shopping as all items are highly overpriced. If you go to Margoa instead with the same money you may buy 5 times for stuff. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. All watersports. However do not expect to find the international fibre glass speed boats in Goa. You will get jet ski, para sailing etc etc... but remember Goa beaches do not have a coral reef, therefore there is no lagoon and water depth may change from shallow to 20 ft or more suddenly.
Railhead from anywhere, try to stop at Thivim, its closer to Baga. Always book prepaid taxis at the exit of the railway station, safer and less rip off. Do not try the motorbike taxis!
Airport in dabolim.
