Overview of the destinationWaste of time and money.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping
You will get locally available seafood and local wines from Chateau Indage, who claim to be a producer of fine wines, but honestly you could get your car to run its engine on that wine.
For best food and value for money try the shacks on the beach. Gokarna is also home to rave parties in the peak season, when DJs from Goa come down.
Sight-Seeing is really amazing, but once you get down to the beach the water is so dirty you won't even want to swim in it.
Many mosquitoes, watch out for malaria!! I wonder how far the best hospital will be from that place.
Those who use cell phones, there might be no network at times.
Staying in the shacks on the beach is a unique experience
Activities & things to do
Spa, Yoga, Meditation, relaxation. But honestly you could go anywhere for that, even go to kerala might work out cheaper with better amenities and more professional.
Warning, there is a hotel there claimimg it is a 5 star establishment, charging at 350 USD/night. I stayed there and its crap. You get bit by mosquitoes at night, the food consist of seafood cooked in coconut oil, really fattening. The villas are made with locally available materials, earth and mud bricks making it 'exotic' to fool some poor innocent tourists.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
I stayed there and they don't have beacon/sausages on breakfast!! Take the same money, go to a four star in goa and get 10 times value for money!!!! With beacon and eggs! One night at that 5 star is 18 k get yourself a 4 star in goa for 6 k a night and get three nights and sing the night away rather than being stuck on that mountain with nothing to do. A goan 2 star deluxe swimming pool is way better than than Gokarna 5 star swimming pool. Sizewise and temperature-wise!!
