So close to the crowds, yet so away from them, Kasauli is like a dream come true of picture perfect natural beauty, wonderful people and simplicity of life. Easy to access due to its proximity to Kalka-Shimla highway, and with literally nothing much to do except nature walks and relax, it is a lovely weekend getaway.Food, sight-seeing and shopping
Forested hillsides, lovely walk to Sanawar, on the Mall Roads, to Monkey Point... Thankfully there is plentiful of wonderful natural scenery around but no menace of disturbing monkeys. Permission required from the Air Force office at the head of the path for Monkey Point (also called Manki Point). Visiting the churches in the town..The Mall is dotted with typical british raj houses, and is shaded by pines, oak, and makes you simply fall in love with Kasauli...

Just off the Kalka-Shimla highway, Kasauli is connected to Shimla, chandigarh and Kalka by regular, local buses. Travelling by rail between Shimla and Kalka, get off at Dharampuri and then take a 12km. bus ride.
Good food can be had at Giani's dhaba at dharampuri. Weather is pleasant throughout year and winters are deceptively cold. |
