| SOMYA Delhi | 17th August 2008 | | Away from Shimla | Overview of the destination The town is Shoghi, about 15 kilometres away from Shimla (for those who want hustle bustle...shy away from this destination). Serene, quiet, majestic, nature's brilliance at it's best. That's how I describe Shoghi. Small Himachal town with a market of not more than may be 30 shops. Pristine beauty, a rainbow everyday and not just another rainbow...fiery brilliance in it's colors. Those who could never count the colors of the rainbow, you can do so now. A point where you can see hills almost 300 degrees. Horizon to horizon, toy train tracks to sit by, watch birds, flowers, hear the silence (do we hear silence, here you do). Walk on the roads seldom trudged, stand at points not known to any travel books and tourism. Ahh..I can go on but words are short.Food, sight-seeing and shopping NOTHING FOR SHOPPAHOLICS. Giani's Dhaba is famous but I did not even want to stop by. Minchy's factory outlet for rare pickles, squashes and Wine (Pick from plum, peach, apricot, apple, grape, rhododendron etc.). Strange enough I had the best gol-gappas here. Road side stall run by a teenaged boy who when told has great gol-gappas hardly was happy. Like I said people are too simple to express a change in emotions. Activities & things to do Walk, observe, sit by the train track, see the train pass by, listen to birds, breathe, enjoy the sun one moment and rain and chilled breeze the other. Watch the people who will have few change in expression when you talk. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Warning - always carry a jacket, when you leave your place of stay you may feel that it's not required but the nature will surprise you in minutes. Diversion before Shimla road on the right. | |
