Large number of tourists visit Kasmir with tour companies. Alone or with them, you must stay at Gulmarg to enjoy the beauty of the place. Stay in the nice cottages of JKTDC-Good,unbelievably cheap,very neat, with a kitchen if you want it! Other private hotels are relatively few & I thought were costlyFood, sight-seeing and shopping
Food at the club house is good. Gondola at Gulmarg is THE attraction but the 'najara' of the place is different at every passing hour! You must have a vehicle at your disposal since the places are well apart. Going to the club is more than an exercise if you decide to walk. We came across a snow leopard -just 10 feet from us at 9 pm!! Nothing special about shopping. Activities & things to do
Gondola visit to APPARWAT was thrilling. Better to ask for rates of various activities on snow to the JKTDC personnel at the entrance of Gulmarg. Cheating or exorbitant quoting is rampant.
At the club house learn golf, TT, billiards or snooker. Just loiter around and enjoy nature. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Reach Srinagar. Go to TAXI stand. Boards displays taxi fares for 'at your disposal' taxi. Hire one. Make sure he has accessories like spare wheels, etc Keeping someone informed about the vehicle, its number & photo of the driver is -I believe-necessary precaution anywhere!! | |
