Peaceful Jodhpur
Overview of the destination
Jodhpur is a very very hot city. But then so is all of Rajasthan except Udaipur. Jodhpur is a quiet, peaceful place, fairly small and very very spacious. The houses are huge! And have a lot of open space in between. Although the city within the walls of Jodhpur ? the old city ? is populated enough and not that spacious, it still has the feel of a sleepy town. Good to relax in for a few days.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping
Umaid Bhawan is the palace of the king of Udaipur. Nice-looking but that?s as far as we could get. There is only a small area of the palace that is available to visitors. Although the limited area gives one a good idea of the spaciousness and grandeur of the palace, my companions were quite disappointed with the limited area available for sightseeing. Most other palaces in Rajasthan allow a much wider access to the interiors. Umaid Bhawan is supposed to have a nice luxurious restaurant as part of the palace premises. However, the restaurant turned out to be a little more luxurious than we had bargained for. Entry charge is Rs.2,500 per head!!! Can you believe it? And this is only the entry charge I am talking of, not the food cost. In short, Umaid Bhawan is out of reach of the common man. Another area of interest is Balsamman which is a lake-side restaurant. Good surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. We were also advised to go to Osian which comprised of sand dunes. The proud locals of Jodhpur insisted that it was as good as Jaisalmer. However, the heat was unbearable and the idea of going to Osian did not appeal despite the high recommendations. We did visit the Mehrangarh fort. Nice fort but large. If you ever have to walk in the heat of Rajasthan, you will understand the ?but large? comment. We liked what we saw but couldn?t cover the entire area. Apparently, there is one section of the fort that sells knick-knacks both food and non-food which we unfortunately missed but which I was told is good fun to visit.

Activities & things to do
Fort and palace visits are the thing to do. Also, apparently, sand dune visit to Osian which I didn't do, so can't vouch for.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Protect yourself against the heat which scorches all of Rajasthan.

 Holiday in Jodhpur
I plan to go to Jodhpur in the last week of March. We have a 3 night holiday package at one of the best hotels. I wish to know if 3 days would be sufficient to cover the sights in Jodhpur? I also wish to visit the sand dunes. Are they close to Jodhpur? Can any of the other big cities like Jaisalmer and Bikaner be covered in the same circuit? I intend to fly into Jodhpur. I have already been to Jaipur, Udaipur and Mt Abu. Hence I only wish to see any of the other major sites in Rajasthan.
 All 3 J forts
Is it possible to cover Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Jaipur in one trip, or does it get too much? Will I get more or less the same experience in Jodhpur and JAilsalmer? If I have to leave out one, which one should I leave?
