Chikmangalur was hot and burning in April.We had planned to stay in Kemmengundi which is on top of hills. The road was extremely bad, narrow and dangerous. The scenery is beautiful, but the stay was quite terrible, thanks to the govt accommodation.
The entire BR hills is govt run. The accommodations are quite pathetic, but even worse was the food situation.There is only one canteen which serves bad food. They have very limited choice. The crowning glory was finding rat potty in our breakfast. They cook in extremely unhygienic conditions.
I wish the govt would wake up and hand over the place to a private resort.Food, sight-seeing and shopping
If you are travelling up to kemmengundi Please carry food and try to not travel that road at night.
There are good homestays available on estates near chikmangalur. Activities & things to do
Their is a forest reserve 35 km from Chikmangalur.But it was closed in beginning of April,due to the danger of forest fires. They start the safari after 15th April or the first blossom rains. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
The road from Bangalore is extremely good. Can do in 5 hours easily. | |

Me and my friends are planning to visit Mulayangiri, our dream destination and nearby places which we can complete in two days. I did searched through some of the topics here but was not able to get much details on it...

3) House/resort stay nearby.
4) Things to be kept in mind for this trek to ratnagiri
5) any other details will be really useful
I want this trip to be planned properly so that we can spend more time in this nature and make the trip wrothy....and i really need help to get the details on this.
