Being from Kuttanad we were looking for a place to give our 'alien' kids an experience of the kind of holidays we used to have when we were their age. Kuttanad River Resorts did precisely that. The 'fishing' with a country contraption - the kind we used as kids, the boat ride on the 'kochchu vallam' made for an authentic experience. Overall we had a wonderful time.Food, sight-seeing and shopping
Wonderful sights, especially if one's roots are from this part of the world. You could pick up oars of the boats from nearby shops. Other countryside implements are also available at the local market. It is really countryside - so you won't even get 'Bournvita' for the kids if you forget to bring it from home. Activities & things to do
Fishing on a quickly assembled contraption. A slow boat ride down the lazy river. A house boat if you want to spend the night in the middle of nowhere gazing into the blue-black sky looking for some far off constellation Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Drive down from Alleppey on the Trivandrum Highway. Ask for the Changanacherry Road. 7.5km down this rather bumpity road is Poopally Junction. Turn Right here. About 4.5km down this road you will see a board that points you to the Resort. | |

 Allepey-ayurveda cum backwaters trip | | Hi,
I am visiting Kerala in November for a wedding but want to take 3 days off with my folks to essentially relax and unwind with Ayurveda treatment and backwater cruise. I was looking at 2 nights in Allepey and one night in houseboat to Kumarakom, or vice versa i.e. 2 nights in Kumarakom and one night in houseboat to Allepey.
Would appreciate any suggestions on itinerary, deluxe A/C accommodation in Allepey/Kumarakom and most importantly, recommendations on good Ayurveda spa packages in that area. I will be travelling with my one year old baby.
