It is still a bustling town with remnants of an ancient cosmopolitan past. Most tourists visit Calicut on their way to Wayanad or Bekal. However, if you are fond of Malabar cuisine (seafood in all forms and the famous Malabar biryanis) then this is the city to go to. Food, sight-seeing and shopping
