Overview of the destination
We loved Mahabaleshwar for its wonderful scenic surroundings. What really was a shock, however, is how the people turn such a beautiful place - even at the most wonderful look-outs - into huge rubbish dumps. Although this is a problem all over India, we did not expect it at places where mostly the middle and upper classes of Indian society go, people who consider themselves as educated and having culture.

Do not miss the sweet corns by the lakeside, and the corn pattice and strawberry cream at hirakani near the lake.

Stay anywhere but do not stay at hotel Rajesh. We had a horrible experience with the hotel management. This is what happened. We were travelling with kids aged 3 and 5. Since they were very small we requested the hotel to extend the check out time upto at least 10 especially since all the rooms were practically empty being off season. However the staff refused flatly. Next when we were leaving, we asked the hotel if they could prepare some chappatis for the children for the way. We said we would pay. This too they refused saying they would not let their food to be taken outside. This really blew my mind. Readers please do not stay at rajesh hotel. We need to teach such inhospitable people a lesson.
