Overview of the destination Nice place but very expensive hotels by the beach. You need your own vehicle to roam around.
Nagaon beach especially is awesome!
We started with a breakfast ride to Karnala and kept going further after knowing that Alibaug is just another 60 odd kms from there - reached in the afternoon - had lunch and left for home. It was the bike ride that was interesting more than the place.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping Shopping - not great!

Activities & things to do Just relax...aren't the activities in Mumbai enough??
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Shortest route is the waterway from Gateway of India - frequency is almost every 30 mins. Buses take u to Alibaug from there - no extra fare. Travel time total = 1.5 hrs (including the bus ride)
By road it will take you 3-4 hrs (depends on where you stay!) - Take the Panvel - Karnala - Pen - Alibaug route - roads are good. Beware of tyre puncture - the local tyrewallas use their techniques to get customers.
