Overview of the destination good.... not too populated... word of locals not to be trusted much.... friendly people otherwise.... not a very expensive place..... great looooooong beach.... amazingly lengthy during low tide..... but just be careful.... nothing else to do besides the beach...... rains like cats and dogs once it begins in the rainy season
Food, sight-seeing and shopping the Kolaba fort which is around 700-800 meters away from the beach is walkable during low tide.....tide timings approximately are 3pm to 6pm its definitely low tide n morning time around 12pm is definitely high tide.... at the fort itself there are some amazing views of the sea and otherwise just ancient broken down architecture n one beautiful temple..... try ur best to go to the beach during low tide so u cn walk 2 the fort as it is more fun rather than taking a horse cart ride which charges 160 for two ppl for a return trip and a hour of time at the fort itself...
nothing to shop as such but things are cheap there..... there's even one big reebok showroom with gr8 discounts
Activities & things to do nothing mich to do besides going to the beach except there are a lot of big big temple in the city.... i went there for only 1 day so i don know much else....
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. from pune took a bus at 8am from shivajinagar st stand and reached alibaug by 12:15pm ...comfortable st bus with a ticket of Rs 120. this was a white with green stripe asiad bus.... whereas on the return trip took a red coloured st bus which also had decent seats but lesser leg space... took this at around 3pm and reached pune by 7-730pm ticket for Rs 94.
while going to the beach for maximum fun take just a little money in ur pockets...no cells or any clothin u don want to get wet ...have lots of water splashing fun in the beach as it is very clean but the sand is super fine so by the time ure done u cud b weighing a litte extra coz of all the sand hidden in ur clothing....
I would like to know if we can transport our vehicle (SUV)to Alibagh by sea from Gateway of India? If yes is it worth the risk ? Or should i stick to the roadway? Also i would like to know the charges and any contact details for the same.
