Dahanu, Bordi, Jawhar excursion
Overview of the destination
We went for a short excursion to Dahanu, Bordi and Jawhar from Pune. Route from Dahanu to Bordi is about 15 kms and is good and scenic. You can go to Bordi from 2 different ways. Bordi beach is black sand beach and very sticky too. The beach is only 1 to 2 feet deep till almost half km inside the sea. It was nice experience though there was no rush. You can also locate few egrets catching insect on the sea water. Sunset as usual was a good experience on beach. 2 kms from Bordi-Gholwad is a nice spot of Jain temple on a small hill. Evening is very pleasant. Other things to visit is Education society of Anutai Wagh who is devoted to social cause for the tribals in that area. Dahanu Bordi belt is full of chickoo plantations. One could really experience it. Tour to Jawhar was not that good. We had heard lot about the Jai Vilas palace of the tribal king. It seemed to be an abandoned and haunted place. The caretaker seemed to be careless. Not worth visiting. The palace is like our University of Pune main building or like Shalini palace of Kolhapur. It is not recommended to go that far and see the palace. However Hanuman Point was a bit ok with good view from top. No good hotels are available in Jawhar. So we took ourselves to Nasik via Trimbakeshwar where we could have our lunch.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping
There are lots of nurseries around Dahanu-Bordi where you can stay . We stayed at Tarpa farms owned by Prabhakar Sawe. It is a 35 acres developed farm where you can stay in cottages and relax and enjoy your holiday. They take you aroud the chickoo plantations, nurseries etc. Food here is excellent with a very clean and hygienic kitchen. You can also use swimming pool.

Activities & things to do
Relaxing in the chickoo orchards. Stroll in the woods. Eat plenty of fruits .and enjoy swim in sea.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
From pune you can go to Thane and from Ghodbundar Road to Borivili. From Borivili western express highway towards Dahanu. Best time to visit is winter. However you can enjoy summer holidays too.
