Overview of the destination Good destination for family getaway. The location has something for people of any age group. It has the Swayambhu Ganesh temple which is the main reason we went there. It's a nice driving location from Mumbai/Pune. The beach's good(except close to the temple with the coconut vendors and maximum crowd) and the resorts nearby decent.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping We stayed at the MTDC resort so had most of our meals at it's restaurant but you can try the the other resort's restaurants as well but the time to service there is min 45 mins. So if you like to have quick bite then have it at the MTDC restaurant only. You can visit the temple, the beach and don't miss the praachin konkan museum. You get good stuff to shop there too, plus you might contribute to the tourism in the region. If you are coming from Mumbai and travelling around Apr-Jun don't forget to buy the famous Alphonso mangoes. I got the best of the season.
Activities & things to do As mentioned don't miss the Praachin Konkan museum.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Driving from Mumbai you can take Vashi, Pen, Mangaon, Chiplun route to Ganpatipule. Just before Hathkumbe take a right on to the SH 106. Be careful to notice the signboards. Good chance that you might miss the turns.
