Overview of the destination The place is pretty good with loads of nature all around .... There are two places to stay, (i) MTDC Resort and (ii) Hotel Sushant. Now when we were there, only the MTDC resort was functioning properly and its a decent place to sleep for a night or two. Now Malshejghat isn't a village or doesn't have a local population... it's just the resort ....The beauty of the place is clouds and mists which even enters the MTDC resort room :) .... You can go to Shivneri fort, which is another 27 kms fron Malshej ghat. There is a dam ( an earthen embankment rather) where different birds and butterflies are seen... Malshejghat is famous for Pink Flamingoes and so you may love to spot one ( i didnt :( :() ... there are some other rare birds which are seen there .... Another Place to visit may be the Bhairabhgarh Fort which is approx 50 kms away i guess ( we didnt venture and so can't say).
Food, sight-seeing and shopping Only place to eat is MTDC Resort and that's it ... i would say food is decent ... u may not be able to get booze and fag in Malshejghat, better carry urself :P
Activities & things to do If you are going to Shivneri fort, approx 10 kms from Malshejghat, there is a small bridge where u can stop for a while.. it's an amazing place with a small river flowing beneath and cloud covered mountain all around in a circle ... I guess one would enjoy the Murbad to Malshejghat drive also ...Malshejghat is famous
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. i went by bike during monsoon... if going from mumbai, one shd drive through Mahim - Sion -Thane - Kalyan - Murbad - Malshejghat ... road quality is very good ....
