| hemant Baroda | 29th March 2007 | | A foodie at Pune | Overview of the destination The cosmopolitan nature of Pune esp. camp and Koregaon Park lends it uniquely accessible for all types of foods you can lay hands-mouth on in India. From Trans Indian foods to international it competes with Mumbai or metros with its easier accessibility. Though you may miss the international chef and food festivals that metro hotels offer time to time, there is always a Dorabjee's to feed you with international canned and frozen foods of great variety, to fall back upon? from salmon to sushi from asparagus to caviar, it itself is a food museum live...ready to eat..Food, sight-seeing and shopping Malls have taken over here too for good. But the camp MG road is full stop for all traffic on weekends and you may stroll with ease amongst bakeries and pubs here. German bakery, ABC farms of Koregaoun Park add to this spectrum and some of the speciality restaurants- complete the picture. Find what you want after you look up what is available; you may change your choice. Food for thought is available in form of speciality book shops, landmark, crosswords and Pune book shops at Deccan and the immense libraries make this an edu-city as well. Experts of most of the fields you can mange to meet here if you know where how to find these gems. Activities & things to do Read 'go Pune' or surf the net times city or else before you make your informed choices. We bought two finest wines for cool noon, went to sit at IVY lounge Gordon house hotel, university road, saw the All stir fry wok only restaurant, ate next at SDM mall- momos and sattay at less than 50/-..Shopped at Dorabjees for exotic Teas etc, walked the camp and koregaoun park, climbed to level 9 cafe at Senapati Bapat Marg Chaturshringi for a coffee high, Deccan area visit, Junglee maharaj road disappointed- 'most crowded restaurant road in country'' disappointed us...and more... Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Pune all year around ,I went to see health of my mom in law and brother in law when found them fit and fine decide to roam myself.. | |
