Dargah e Ajmer
Overview of the destination
The sole attraction of Ajmer is the Dargah of Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisty. There are places to see around the sleepy town but why talk about those that hardly make a difference. More than a tourist destination, Dargah Ajmer is a spiritual abode of God Himself. I went there with two of my closest friends because I had heard so much and I wanted to explore it myself. The place wasn't far from Delhi and we thought of making it a weekend trip. The March weather was perfect for the trip and we thought that we'll also see the Brahma temple at Pushkar, if at all we get time. The experience at the Dargah cannot be explained in mere words. The moment you step foot into the courtyard of Khawaja's Dargah, you'll get this amazing feeling. There's so much positive energy that suddenly takes you in and all you feel is this calmness inside. Suddenly you feel so blessed and so warm inside. All you can feel is God and you can feel him walking with you, beside you. Strange thing is that the three of us felt the same way and we discussed this only when we came out of that divine atmosphere. The visit to the Dargah is something that I can possibly never forget. It was so divine and simply out of the world. There was no caste, no religion, no creed nor gender difference there. People from all walks of life were seen praying to the Khawaja for blessing their lives. The quawwaalis being sung in the compound took the entire experience to a different level altogether. It was simple majestic! I would recommend everybody to visit this place at least once in a lifetime to realise what Faith is and that how far is it from region, religion, caste or any such divide; How pure and how soothing is the feeling of being so close to God is, how fulfilling!!

Food, sight-seeing and shopping
What to Eat: You can rely on good Rajasthani cuisine, however, one gets Mughlai food on the streets close to the Dargah. There's also a place called 'Chaupati', Unlike the Juhu one this place offers Rajasthani style Bhelpuri, sevpuri and the likes minus the sea off course! For pure Rajsthani cuisine I shall recommend Chowki Dhani, on the outskirts of Ajmer. We went there for dinner and it lived up to our expectations. Sight Seeing: There's 'Saheliyon ki Baadi' a garden on the banks of a lake with really nice structures where one can sit and relax for a while. However, its crowded most of the time so avoid if you dont want to be in the crowd. A visit to the Birla Boys and Girls Boarding school can also be made. Its one of the oldest institutions of India. One interesting structure that I saw was a fort boundary on the Hills surrounding one part of AJmer, came to know that these were the remains of the Fort that once belonged to the famous Prithviraj Chauhan (The Rajput Prince who literally barged into Princess Sanyukta's Svayamvar and sped off with her). Dont know if you have anything to do there! Shopping: Pushkar market is the perfect place for shopping. Ajmer doesn't offer you many options except for a few knick knacks. Not much to take away but silver jewellery perhaps. The market in Ajmer is colorful and women have so much to pick from there right from colourful sarongs, strapless blouses to lovely Meenakari Jewellery

Activities & things to do
-Visit to the Dargah is must -Visit to the Pushkar temple close by -Temples around Pushkar

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
How to Get There: Best is to take the Delhi-Ajmer Shatabdi. That way you reach Ajmer at noon and after checking in to your hotel/ guest house, you can visit the Dargah in the evening (Best time to be there). There are also Taxis from Jaipur or even luxury buses Where to Stay: Luxury lovers should choose Mansingh Palace, Phoolmahal Palace or Roopangarh Fort For Budget travellers I recommend the RTDC Hotels. These are really good.
