This is a wonderful ancient city, with lots of historical importance. The Meenakshi temple here was nominated for the world wonder competition and there are lots of other small temples over here. The city covers a lot of tourist?s places like Kodaikanal. Madurai is known for the Kannaki?s role in the great epic Silapathikaram. The thousand Pillar mandapam in Meenakshi temple is known for its gigantic structure with pillars creating different sounds.Food, sight-seeing and shopping
All the sights are present with in 20 km in and around Madurai. Regarding shopping you can get good handicrafts, jewels, dresses, marble toys, etc. Shopping can be easily done in and around the Meenakshi Amman temple itself. Activities & things to do

Madurai is just 450 km away from Chennai and also from Bangalore. You can reach Madurai by air, road or train. | |
